Love this advice

I see a lot of men excited that their woman is taking an interest in shooting and run right out to buy them a gun. It’s well-intentioned but often (usually) not the right gun for her.

If she hasn’t shot enough to tell the difference between the guns out there AND especially if she has never shot the gun you’re choosing, you’re probably effing it up.

Don’t buy her a gun for Christmas unless she has told you specifically what she wants AND has already shot it and some other guns.

I said what I said.

I finally was able to get to a Rangemaster Instructor course this weekend, after several years of bad luck/timing. It was worth the wait. Tom Givens and Assistant Instructors Dr. Andy Anderson and Jeff Boren were simply fantastic. The facility and staff at Boondocks FTC were truly top of the line.

But most of all, I enjoyed getting to know the other students; who were great people and shooters to the last. I am very excited to consider them all friends. Considering their skills and professionalism, I am especially humbled to receive the class Top Shot Award.

We just returned from a terrific weekend of training. A huge thanks goes out to the EWTN Security team for bringing us out to assist in training their officers how to respond to the Active Shooter Threat.

So the Tennessee State Legislature has passed a Bill to mandate yearly fi****ms education in schools, starting in 2025-26. It currently awaits Bill Lee's signature.

So my question is: What you include if you were to create the curriculum, and at what ages?

My initial thoughts are:

For Elementary Kids, Basically the Standard NRA Eddie Eagle program of "STOP! Dont Touch! Run Away! Tell an Adult"

For 5th-8th Graders, Review the above material, but also begin instilling the 4 Safety Rules.

For 9th and 10th Graders, Review the 4 Rules, and get hands on time with functional, yet inert trainers (think snap caps and firing pin removed), with an emphasis on safely unloading guns of various actions.

For 11th and 12th graders, the emphasis will change to an understanding of the rights, legal responsibilities, and requirements for possession, carry, and use of force law.

Members of the Tennessee Senate passed House Bill 2882 in a party-line vote of 24 to 3 on Thursday morning. It passed the House in February.

Just took a great online course from The Complete Combatant called “Reactionary Zones.”

Instructor Shelley Hill does a great job of helping students conceptualize distances and how given distances impact our ability to react to threats.

It’s not your average “Gun” course, and so it may be a great introduction for people who aren’t yet willing to make the jump to fi****ms training, but still want to be better prepared against violent attack.
