Young Women's Freedom Center (YWFC) & Studio Grand or an opening of YWFC's Oakland home and the "She Free/We Free" photography exhibit by on how YWFC defines and builds family and siblinghood. Talented and powerful artist DJ AGANA will be painting a mural for us, we will have good music and food!

For years YWFC has provided programming and partnered with community groups in Oakland, many of us come from and live in Oakland, now we are building a home for YWFC. On June 26th, YWFC will celebrate the opening of its doors and launch of our full program in Oakland.

Curated by RDL+, Bay Area Bridges celebrates the Bay Area music scene, with Oakland as its launch pad. This month, RDL+ features a collaboration with singer-songwriter Josh Boronkay.

Joshua Boronkay has been making music in the Bay Area for the last decade. He finds his roots in the American songwriting tradition taking from blues, jazz, folk and hip hop. His newest record, “JB Barton and Co.”, is due for release this summer.

DOORS AT 6:30PM, SHOW AT 7PM

On International Women's Day, a day to recognize the love and labor of womxn, we want to lift up our Resident Artist Sarita Ocón. She dreamt up and realized Las Hociconas Lab, a space for young artists to collaborate and learn from established artist and bring new work to life. Join us tonight and tomorrow night for Lxs Hociconxs Artist Showcase and Community Celebration March 8th (International Womxn's Day) and March 9th, 2018 . DOORS OPEN AT 7:00PM / PERFORMANCES AT 7:30PM . Our event is FREE and open to all! Donations welcomed at the door for continued support of the artists and Studio Grand. . Performances by: Tierra Allen, Layel Camargo, Erika Vivianna Céspedes, Jordan Maria Don, Alejandra Fernandez García, Katherine Garcia, Lauren Andrei Garcia, Lorena Lopez, Jasmine Milan Williams, Ciclady Rodriguez, April Silva, and Ashley Smiley. . Getting ready for Saturday, March 12 Exhibit Opening :: When She Rises from 8:00pm-11:00pm. We're looking forward to having folks in the space. The women of the Trust Your Struggle Collective, Cece Carpio, Nisha K. Sembi, and Erin Yoshi, have transformed the space with the stories of the struggles of womxn throughout the world. All of Studio Grand is being transformed to tell these stories with video documentaries rolling, tea served upstairs to take it in, and so many good people.
