Our Story
About Chef Farriér: A native of Oakland, California, Charles Farriér was inspired to become a chef by his father, who cooked for the family. After high school, Charles decided to pursue his dream by enrolling in the advanced culinary training program at Treasure Island Job Corps, the nation's largest vocational training program for economically disadvantaged youth. Studying under classically trained chefs, Farriér quickly discovered he had an affinity for French pastry techniques and hatched the dream to one day launch his own pastry business.
Since graduating, Charles has worked as a chef in non-traditional settings such as trains and cruise ships, as well as fine restaurants and upscale catering companies in the Bay Area. In 2006, Farriér began selling desserts to friends and family, who lauded his innovative flavors and signature shortbread crust. In 2013, Farriér was selected as an entrepreneur into La Cocina’s prestigious incubator program and officially launched his new company in January 2014. Now in 2020, Crumble & Whisk Patisserie is a leading cheesecake company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
