Support local always.

Support your local pop-up chefs and businesses when you can. Setting up shop/a kitchen and/or prep stations in the wild is, well, WILD.

You're left to the mercy of the elements and infrastructure, all while trying to positively promote to deliver an experience you can't necessarily count on being able to deliver. But, we leap - hoping there will be a familiar or supportive face(s) to make the leap (and work) just a little easier and very much worth it.

We love y'all and will not stop participating in the culture that makes The Bay, specifically the East Bay, as fu***ng cool as it is. 🫶🏽✨️📈😘

The Pleasure Principle is bringing Summer Tings to Hammerling tomorrow - join us!

We're back at one of our favorite Summer hangs this weekend!

We hope you'll join us at Hammerling Wines tomorrow (Saturday, July 27th)! We'll be there from 12pm - 6pm/sellout with our EXPLOSIVELY delicious Afro-Caribbean food, celebrating the summer bounty in California. Here's the drool-worthy menu:

• Jerk Elotes (GF) with roasted tomato-jerk aioli, queso añejo, lime + smoked chili

• Oxtail Phillys with braised oxtail, house-made whiz, smoked provolone + mozzarella cheese, bell peppers, onions and herbs on Acme herb roll served with a side of pikliz

• Curry Tofu & Jerk Mushroom bowls over garlic rice with pikliz (Vegan)

• As always our savory Caribbean pastries will be available for your on-site or to-go DELIGHT!

Now you've got weekend plans! Come through and vibe out with us for a spell, for a while, for the whole afternoon - Hammerling's gorgeous space is perfect for families, friend hangs, dates, awkward reunions - ALL ARE WELCOME and we'd love to see your faces.

We're back at one of our favorite Summer hangs this weekend!

We hope you found some liberation this past Juneteenth and ALWAYS.

As promised, our offerings of liberation come in the form of creating great space for us all. YOU bring the vibes, WE"LL bring the tasty tings to eat!

This Saturday, July 13th, we're back at HAMMERLING WINES in Berkeley! From noon - 6pm (or sellout), we'll be vending our delicious Afro-Caribbean food, with touches from the bounty of the beautiful Californian summer harvest! Expect bright, bold and dynamic flavors in our pop-up menu below. If you've tried us, you know. If you haven't yet - what are you waiting for?!

• We're delighted to partner with Humble Sea (https://humblesea.com/) in Alameda this month! On Sunday, July 21st, from 12pm - 6pm, we'll be popping up at this super cute and fun brewery in Alameda (come through, island tings)! Our Caribbean flavors pair perfectly with their fabulous beers that give us coastal & island vibes every time we drink it. What, with beers with names like Socks and Sandals, TPP x Humble Sea just makes sense.

• And, because we LOVE IT THERE SO MUCH, we're back at Hammerling Wines for a second time in July! Saturday, July 27th from 12pm - 6pm (or sellout). The Pleasure Principle will be vending our signature Caribbean flavors. Stay tuned for the menu announcement and preordering options (we sellout fast at these events)!

This Sunday we're serving
BLUE 💙🔵 PLATE 🍽 SPECIALS!!! ✨️
• Jerk Chicken
• Jerk Shrimp
• Jerk Mushroom (maitake, oyster, and trumpet)

All plates come with coconut rice and peas, pickled peach salad , yogurt raita, and herb bounty!

We'll also have rice with oxtail gravy and, of course, a variety of our signature, savory, Caribbean pastries!

We hope you'll join us for 's very cute, very vibey SIP & SWAP event from 12pm-6pm. In addition to our delicious food, Hammerling's wines are fabulous, and did we mention there's going to be a SPRITZ BAR??!! We'll be 1 day into the SUMMER ☀️ SOLSTICE and 23 days into PRIDE MONTH 🌈 🏳️‍🌈 and we can't wait to celebrate with you all. 🥂

Can you see the interconnectedness of LIBERATION?

I truly hope you can.

I can't help but notice the collective form liberation HAS TO take.

If you feel tired and brow-beaten by what to do; what you should do or CAN do - know that you're not alone and that it's a GOOD thing to feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable in the world right now. Discomfort makes it necessary to change and there's a reason we're all uncomfortable right now.

LET"S GET LIBERATED!

This Juneteenth and always, LIBERATE something! Yourself, your community, your loved ones from whatever you need to free yourself(ves) from. Let that take whatever form it needs to.

My attempts at liberation come in the form of our offerings. And just so you all know, you never have to buy anything at the events we participate in to be invited. Sharing and creating space for us is the support so we hope you'll join us at our events this month:

• We're back (like we never left) at Hammerling Wines this Sunday, June 23rd from 12pm - 6pm (or sellout). The Pleasure Principle will be vending Caribbean Blue Plate Specials and Savory Pastries at Hammerling Wines for their Sip and Swap (https://www.instagram.com/p/C8YBDKByN8m/) event. Join us as we celebrate the liberation of our Q***r communities with PRIDE! And so far it looks like it's going to be GORGEOUS out so we really hope we can party with you!

• We're celebrating and supporting the liberation of SMALL BUSINESSES next Tuesday, June 25th (and always) at Low Bar's (https://www.lowbaroakland.com/) Night Market! We're delighted to number among so many fabulous local artists, makers and vendors! We'll be selling our famous TAKE & BAKE Caribbean pastries as well as our explosively delicious PEPPA SAUCES! Come whether or not you plan to purchase anything and share space with your community! We'd simply love to see your joyful faces! This event is from 6pm - 9pm.

It's amazing what great technique can do. And, I'm learning (as I hope I'll continue to do) that most technique is sheer patience. I learned this mushroom rising technique from during her time as a contestant on . I learned to add mushrooms to fat and let them be until they've browned. Don't add salt, don't jostle the pan, just wait. The complexity and depth of umami that renders is undeniable. Truly, patience is the ultimate technique.

We were so honored, so we put forth (as we always do) our best offerings.

This one was our signature dessert small bites menu offering. Mini banana bread trifles with gelee, toasted pepitas and candied pecans, and a coconut créme Chantilly. 🤤

We were so honored, so we put forth (as we always do) our best offerings.

This one was tostones with picadillo, and it is one of our new, signature small bites menu options. Our food is not tweezed or extremely picked over, but it is intentionally and lovingly made, and man is it DELICIOUS!!! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽

We were so honored, so we put forth (as we always do) our best offerings.

This one was Dirty Rice Arancini, one of our signature small bites offerings. We make our dirty rice with 80/20 ground beef, house made truffle chicken liver mousse, the NOLA trinity, and add smoked provolone, cornstarch and eggs to make a perfect small bite ( or two). Topped with meyer lemon aioli 👌🏽

The 1st ever POC Food & Wine Festival starts tomorrow and we're so excited!

We hope you can join us!

Just in time for AAPI Heritage Month, we've partnered with our friends at Make it Mariko for the first-ever POC Food & Wine Festival! Make it Mariko is a San Francisco creative events agency led by women of color, many of whom are ethnically representative of the many countries in Asia.

The POC Food & Wine Festival (https://www.pocfoodandwine.com/) has worked to do what we value at The Pleasure Principle: amplify and support local, POC-owned businesses and spotlight the creativity and ingenuity of our collective communities. Essentially, they've worked to build a longer table - an ethos we hold dear at The Pleasure Principle.

We are DELIGHTED and so very honored to be able to participate in this festival and we hope you'll join us for a weekend of fun, indulgence, delight and of course super delicious food and wine!

• We are back at Hammerling (https://www.hammerlingwines.co/) - this time for a month-long residency! Beginning on May 11th and every Saturday thereafter, we'll be vending at the beautiful Hammerling winery in Berkeley.

Join us from 12pm - 5pm every Saturday and sip and savor their delicious wine with our explosively yummy Afro-Caribbean (with Californian flourishes) snacks and tings.

Stay tuned for details on this event series with a preorder menu available next Tuesday, the 7th of May.

• On Sunday, May 19th, CASH US OUTSIDE AGAIN! Vending at the Head West Festival in Alameda (https://www.headwestmarketplace.com/stgeorgespirits) at the St. George Distillery!

While we've shopped at Head West fests before, this is our first time vending at a Head West event and we're so excited to share our goods with a new crowd! Attendance is free and it is such a good vibe, such a good time. Of course, we hope you'll join us.

• Our Black Salon Series (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/black-salon-series-v-tickets-872021217937?aff=odcleoeventsincollection) ; a series for Black Food & Beverage managers and owners, by Black Food & Beverage managers and owners, has been gaining steady momentum and remains an initiative of which I am extremely proud. If this series sounds like it's for you, we hope you can join us for the 6th installment, this month. Our Black Salon Series are and always will be complimentary.

Sunday, May 26th, 2024 from 5pm - 7pm. We will meet, converse and support one another again. Please mark your calendars as the reservation link will be made live by Tuesday, May 14th. Please note that if you reserve a spot, we do prepare food and beverages so please let us know if you can't make it. As this is a complimentary event and service that we humbly present to our community, advance notice helps us to conserve resources.
