In the world of , few events are as electrifying—or as empowering—as . This women-only contest is where talented cowgirls face off against the clock, showcasing their horsemanship, coordination, and sheer, unbridled courage.

The objective might sound straightforward: rope a calf that’s been given a head start, then “break away” to stop the clock.🐄🐄

But to actually pull it off, these ladies need a rare blend of skill, lightning reflexes and absolute control over both horse and lasso! 🏇

The cowgirl expertly guides her horse to run alongside the fleeing calf, swinging her rope with the kind of rhythm that only comes from hours in the saddle. With a quick, well-timed motion, she sends the lasso flying, catching the calf’s neck with precision.

is one of the most jaw-dropping events in all of professional rodeo—a true test of grit and guts! Haven’t seen it in person? Then picture this: A fearless cowboy thunders across the arena on a galloping horse, then launches himself headfirst at a rampaging steer! 🏇

It’s all about sheer strength and skill as he wrestles the massive animal to the ground. 💪

It all happens in mere seconds—the cowboy has to time his leap from his horse with pinpoint precision, then dig in his heels and use his bodyweight to bring the steer's head and shoulders to the dirt.

Plus, the steer's horns are the only thing keeping the cowboy from an earth-shattering wipeout, making every run a heart-pounding battle of man versus beast. 🐄🤠

But did you know that, according to legend, steer wrestling was invented by accident at one of the earliest rodeos?

It all started when a Wild West show performer named Bill Pickett caught a runaway steer by wrestling it to the ground. The rest is history!

These seasoned cowboys climb aboard a powerful, bucking horse armed with only a heavy-duty saddle, rein and sheer willpower. 🐎 The cowboy has to time his movements in perfect unison with his horse, spurring forward with its legs while maintaining a steady, one-handed grip on the rigging.

And here’s a fun fact: these horses are bred to buck! It’s in their nature to twist, spin and lunge with all their might, trying to unseat their rider. And when the bucking is over, these horses rest in the lap of luxury and are meticulously cared for by their keepers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️Folks, we tried to honor #militaryveteran Ray Hobbs but had a power issue that night. He has an amazing story that we had want to share with you. Raymond Malan Hobbs was born March 13, 1924, in Ogden, Utah. Since then, he has been an Ogden resident except during his service in World War II, in the Army Air Corps. Ray met his sweetheart Lois Crosbie December 8, 1941. They married October 19, 1944, in Roswell, NM while in the service. He had joined the Army Air Corps in October 30, 1942 and after almost 2 years of training he joined the war effort as a B-17 pilot. On August 4, 1944, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. Ray was stationed at an airfield in Horham, England where he was assigned to the 95th Bomber group. He feels blessed to have never dropped a bomb. Instead, his group was directed to drop food stuffs, flour and canned goods to the starving Dutch. Ray flew 6 of these missions between May 1, 1945, and May 7, 1945. During the final days of World War II, the Allied Air-Forces (British, United States, Canada, New Zealand, Poland and Australia) participated in Operation Manna/Chowhound. It was a top secret humanitarian operation. Millions of Dutch people were starving to death, and 18,000 had already died. As retribution to Holland’s resistance movement, the Nazi Regime had denied them fuel and food during the harsh winter of 1944/45. The allies dropped more than 25,000 tons of food from April 29th through May 7th. A moment of kindness and light during a time of world darkness. After Ray returned from the war, he and Lois built the home he still lives in today. He worked for The Standard Examiner during the day for 33 years, while also working nights for The Tribune and raising their six children. Ray lost his sweetheart 12 years ago. They have 33 Grandchildren, 96 Great-Grandchildren and 14 Great-Great-Grandchildren with 2 more to arrive before 2024 is over. Ray loves his Malan heritage, our blessed country, his family
