Ogden Pioneer Days rodeo and celebration, with events planned throughout July, is the biggest and best statehood celebration in Utah. This year, the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo will be inducted into the 2017 ProRodeo Hall of Fame. Most Septembers, we see someone come out of nowhere. They'll hit three rodeos in four days, cash checks at all of them and suddenly they're NFR-bound!!

That's what makes this sport beautiful and unpredictable all at once.

💫 You can always spot them at : the first-timers. Usually, younger folks who got dragged along by friends or family!

They show up expecting... well, who knows what they're expecting. But watch what happens:
🤯 The shock when they see real cowgirl and cowboy athletes
👀 The fascination when they realize the partnership between rider and horse
❤️ The moment when they understand this isn't just sport—it's culture

What is it that hooks them? 🤔 We think it comes down to:
1️⃣ Authenticity. In a world of filters and facades, rodeo is raw and real.
2️⃣ Values. Respect. Hard work. Taking care of what matters.
3️⃣ Community. Where else do strangers become family over shared cheers and dusty bleachers?

🚒🚒🚒 No doubt about it… we love our Ogden City fire and police support teams!!

These dedicated folks sacrifice time, life and limb on behalf of everyday citizens. And we so appreciate having them with us at the rodeo every night. 👏👏👏

❤️ A special shout out to Fire Chief Mike Slater and Police Lieutenant Glen Buss, both members of the Ogden Pioneer Days Committee.

Hats off to these good folks! We couldn’t do this without them and all the other support from various Ogden City personnel. 👍👍

50,000+ rodeo fans make their way to OPD each year and we appreciate every one!!! We love that we get to see friends and family, along with good “peeps” young and old from all walks for life.

❤️❤️❤️These particular peeps are Mike & Jana Plowman. Now, this amazing couple are no strangers too many in this area and we were thrilled to see them at the rodeo. Active in the community, they donate time and energy to causes large and small. It honestly hard to not run into these good folks as they make their way from one thing to another.

🤠🤠🤠Hat’s off to the Plowman’s and thanks to all of our wonderful fans and community members!!!

🌟 The crowd sees the cowboy, his 8-second ride, and the score on the board…

But behind every ride that gets the cheers? There's a whole crew of people working hand-in-hand:

🌅 The stock contractor who's been up since 4 AM checking every animal, making sure they're healthy and ready to perform.

🏟️ The arena crew who spend hours getting the dirt just right—not too hard, not too soft, but perfect for both horse and rider.

🐎 The pickup men who risk their necks every single night to keep riders safe when the buzzer sounds.

📋 The committees volunteers who direct traffic, sell programs, and stay late to clean up—all because they love what this event means to the community.

🎙️ The production crew making sure you hear every word, every roar, every heartbeat.

And dozens of others!! Many of them invisible to most of us.

Next time you're at OPD—or any rodeo—look around. See the people working while others watch. They're a big reason why this whole thing works!

Rodeo fans, this is Riley, Kent and Samantha Johnson. Not only is this young family among our super fans, they are also on our social media team.

Now, if Riley had his way, he’d set up permanent residence at the stadium and rodeo all year long. And you can bet that we’ll see little Kent competing with the other mutton busters in a few years!!

And you might notice that Sammy is sporting our highly sought after COWBOY HAT (new this year).
