No matter what others are planning (proposal during reception, drunken shenanigans, disrespecting your partner, overzealous photographer in your face, people wanting to bring uninvited guests to your per-plate sit down dinner, whatever) I will be the bad guy for you. Throw me under the bus, I don't tolerate this.

HOW TO MARRY IN OKLAHOMA...

Okay since I've had a lot of questions about my post, I just want to let you guys know the process of how to get married in Oklahoma.

A license signing does not include vows or ceremony, it's just a legal signing of a document. You can still have your wedding ceremony at any time, though the date of your legal marriage will be the date of the signing.

First you need to set up an appointment with an officiant. There are actually several of us in the city and a surprising amount that are more than happy to marry any LGBTQ+ couples. If I am not able to myself, I know how to contact others that can. Some are also offering free same s*x officiant services.

Once you have a appointment with an officiant, you contact the county clerk's office of whatever city you live in. Here in OKC, often Edmond does same day licenses but in OKC downtown you do have to have an appointment in advance. You have to BOTH be there to get the license issued. They will tell you what paperwork you will need.

Once you get your marriage license from the county clerk, you bring that and at least two adult witnesses to wherever you have your appointment set up with your officiant. I happen to have a venue/chapel, Ever After Events Venue and Studio , that is pre-decorated and I am more than happy to have anyone take pictures in my venue. I also offer several actual wedding ceremony packages that are affordable.

Once you have the two witnesses, yourselves, and your officiant sign your license (congrats, you're married!) you can take it back to the county clerk's office. Both of you don't have to be there to return it. Then they can issue you certified copies which you can use for any kind of paperwork such as insurance.

Important rules:

You cannot sign the license on the grounds of the county clerk's office and judges no longer sign.

Do NOT sign it before bringing it to your officiant.

It MUST be signed in black ink.

Signatures must be legible and written in full, as they are printed on the certificate (including middle names and new names, if changed). All other written portions should be in print.

If, somehow you make a mistake, put a single straight line through the messed up portion, and initial, then try to fit the correct information on the same line or just above (writing small from the get-go helps). Do not scratch it out, do not try to use white-out or any other kind of product such as that.

I had one of the BEST cakes ever this last weekend by Cakes By Hiba omg! Being both an event venue owner/specialist, as well as a facepainter, I have tried a LOT of cakes, so I'm very picky.
Not only was it gorgeous, but the cake texture was spot on and the rich buttercream was not too sweet (I'm very sensitive to overly sweet things). It was SOOOOOO good!!! Highly recommend. 🎂❤️❤️❤️🎂

If you work in the event or entertainment industry at all you will know that Mondays are lazy days. My cat and I had the same vibe yesterday, but it's back to work today.
