I've just now sent out another pre race email. This email is identical to the one sent 2 weeks ago with some updates. We finally have a route chosen, it is a 3.15 mile loop with 185' of elevation gained per loop. I know this will help with your pacing strategies. Thank you for being patient while worked on this.
Big thanks to everyone who has helped clear the course. Extra special thank you to Pat Thompson who has really gone above and beyond this year to make our race route as awesome as possible.

I believe this will be year 17.

It has been a hectic few months for myself and everyone else in this area. I want to start out by saying thank you to everyone that has reached out to me, my family and friends, and this running community in the aftermath of hurricane Helene. There is still a long road to recovery ahead, but progress is being made every day.

It's been a slow-moving process, but we have been granted all permits to host our race in 2025! This year's race will be held on June 7th and 8th. Registration will go live on Ultrasignup on Friday, January 24th.

Due to the devastating impact the hurricane had on the trails, there may be some changes made to the course. The clean-up and rebuilding process has already begun, but it may be several months before a 'final' route is ready to be released. Just know that it will be in the 2.5-3.5 mile range for a loop and 200-300 ft of gain.

We will be hosting work days in the spring. If you're interested in helping, stay tuned!

Thank you all for being patient while we worked on getting the details ironed out for 2025. We are looking forward to another awesome race.

My family and I are proud to be participating and supporting this great first-year event! Can we get some speedsters to show up and throw down some fast times chasing the cash prize? Can we drum up a few hundred others to run with a smile knowing they're impacting some local 2nd graders?

Meet us every Sunday for a run around Black Mountain, NC.

The group gathers at around noon and at 12:15 we head out!

Black Mountain Monster weekend has come to an end. We are so happy with the turnout of this event. The spirit and culture of the people who swarm to this race every year are what makes it so special. Vibes aside, the competition was fierce! Y'all were very entertaining for us to watch run by as we supported you from the aid station. Many great memories were made this weekend. Thank you runners for the incredible support you have shown.

Special thanks to all of the hard working volunteers. Without this crew of 15 or so people, this race could never happen. They are the best.

Shout outs to Mountain Running Company- Black Mountain, Victoire Coffee Co., and Montreat College for supporting the Monster every year.

Nearly 250 runners competed in the Black Mountain Monster 6, 12 and 24 Hour Ultramarathon, June 3 and 4, as the annual race returned for its 15th year. Ten participants in the 24-hour race eclipsed the 100-mile mark
