11 Years Later, We Finally Reunite
Let me take you back a little: Gladys and I first met at United States International University (USIU). We were inseparable, almost like twins! It’s funny looking back now because we had so much in common and did almost everything together. While she was pursuing journalism and I was deep into physiology, life took us on different paths— but with a twist neither of us could have predicted.
Fast forward to today, and here we are, both wedding planners and designers! Who would’ve thought that our journeys would bring us back together like this? We talk almost every day, sharing our experiences, lifting each other up, and constantly brainstorming big plans for our future collaborations. Let's talk about pricing! Yesterday I was asked to give a quote for a ceremony design similar to this
GORGEOUS setup and the bride was shocked when I estimated this complete look would cost over $25,000 (flowers from us and draping, white flooring and chairs from other vendors). Budgeting and pricing isn't something I enjoy talking about but I wanted to share because I think it's helpful for you to see the price tag for designs of this caliber. I know we all like nice things but my advice to brides is to consider all the elements that go into creating a look and align your expectations with your budget. If you take the draping and white flooring out of this room, you will save a lot of money and it will still be pretty BUT it's not going to look like this. You can have a beautiful wedding for a reasonable price but designs of this level are very expensive! I want to take this moment to thank everyone that booked with me this year. Thank you for trusting me, thank you for supporting me and thank you for believing in me .

I remember when I decided to do this I didn’t know what to expect, all I knew is I wanted to make people smile , bring their dreams to reality and doing it BIG!!

Whenever I talked about my imaginations they seem unreal to most people until I made it happen. One thing I know for sure is I am not even half way to show my talent and what I have instal for you all. I remember when I told a friend that I was going to start event designing business she looked at me and laughed, she said “you think this is Africa?” And I looked at her and laughed and said “watch me!”

Nothing is impossible as long as you believe in your self. I work sooo hard, day and night . I know I always share the beauty but I really don’t share much of the behind the scene. I have had days that I have worked 24hrs straight and have a 2hr sleep, I have had many days of working in my warehouse alone at night with cold, rain, snow and sick. I will eventually share my story one day. I have done all this because of what I believe. I am very passionate when it comes to something I believe in and I go harder. I am my own cheer leader and I don’t wait for nothing or nobody , I DO IT!!!!!

This year tasted me in all aspects and I am glad it did because it made me stronger than before. They say “what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger “ and that’s exactly who I am.

When you look at me you will think I’m all luxury, classy, glamorous,sassy and all but there’s more to Doreen. Next year is a year to ELEVATE even more , let the action do the talking.

Fun fact, this was my boss in tanzania years ago. He owned his own Arline . I was 17 years old and within 3 months of working for his company I was promoted , I was one of his best employees. I remember I used to know all the phone numbers of all the companies and clients , I will dial them without looking ina directory or anywhere . Small world here he is , leaving in the same state as me and was lucky enough to have this experience for my my kids 🥰. He works for Alaska and trains other pilots , it’s such a blessing for my kids to experience this . Thanks so much Ghafoor , my kids had a blast
