If you're new to following The Frosty Badger, I'd like to introduce you to what we're trying to do... We exist to be a gathering place for our Community and to be A Hub for Creativity in the Western Treasure Valley.
In case you haven't heard - this Saturday we have three great songwriters that are going to get on stage and share their craft with us - and its an opportunity for all singers, songwriters, music lovers and creatives to gather with your people. Call it networking, call it support, call it the sheer enjoyment of celebrating the practitioners of art - whatever you want, but this is the first of what we hope to be many such gatherings that are centered around songwriting and songwriters. If you're looking for a place and time to come and be inspired by your fellow creative soldiers - now is the time to report to The Frosty Badger and join the fun.

See you Saturday night. Doors at 6P Music at 7P
Curb Appétit will be serving food. BYOB.

Three great PNW songwriters - live on Saturday, November 9th!

Spotlight on Freeman Dejongh!

Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1048826005817?aff=oddtdtcreator

Freeman DeJongh is a folk and western songwriter who lives in the mountains of Idaho. The sounds and stories he arranges into harmonies and songs are reflections of the natural spaces within and around him. Freeman is a multi-instrumentalist whose curiosities are focused on interweaving the eerie silver sounds of his pedal steel guitar, the electric sparkles of telecasters, the wooden hums of old-time acoustics with the atmospheric drones of organs and synthesizers. Freeman’s voice comes softly from the heart and he sings to share all of his love and sadness with you. The music he creates roams freely between many traditions of American music including folk, jazz, psychedelic, and country and western…

This is going to be one of those evenings where you'll look back someday and say, "I saw them back in the day, in a great little venue in Ontario!"

Three of the Pacific Northwest's finest songwriters together for the first time! Brad Parsons Nick Delffs& Freeman DeJongh

Spotlight on 📣Nick Delffs 📣

Doors at 6P. Music at 7P. Food will be available from Curb Appetite.

Nick Delffs is not a protest singer. He’s not a gospel singer. But, the product of musical and personal growth that coincided with widespread social upheaval and a global pandemic – just as Delffs navigated first-time fatherhood, losing friends, and approaching his 40s; this all weaves into his songs.
Now Boise-based, Nick Delffs has been a beloved staple of Pacific Northwest music since emerging with his Portland-based band The Shaky Hands in the mid-2000s. It was clear then, as it is now, that he possessed an authentic—maybe ancient—voice.
When writing, Delffs spends as much time as possible not listening to music. “That’s really helpful for me,” he says, “because then it becomes this thing where I need music, I need songs—so I have to make them.” Delffs spent as much time thinking about cows—yes, cows, like the John Gnorski-illustrated one on an album’s cover—in the recording process as he did about any particular musical inspirations.
Still, the memory of music sneaks into the process, as Delffs found himself thinking about Tom Petty and Talking Heads, two artists he loved in childhood. One can hear echoes of David Byrne as well as nods to some other of Nick’s favorite artists (including Alice Coltrane, George Harrison, Yamuna Devi) where they naturally arrive into the sonic landscape of his albums.

Brad was born in the low desert of the Lewis Clark valley tucked in between the border of Washington and Idaho. He grew up, in church where Parsons also learned the power of communicating with others through music. He went faithfully each Sunday and sang to his fathers congregation from the old hymns and gospel standards.

Growing up and away from the music of the old gospel and diving into the secular classics forbidden to him in his youth, Parsons left the church to pursue music free from the boundaries his religion put on him. In 2008 he moved to Portland, OR and entrenched himself in the burgeoning Americana scene expanding his roots to rock, bluegrass and country music.

The next few were years spent traveling, busking on street corners and playing in dive bars.

In 2016, he compiled songs he had written in vans, spare bedrooms and on front porches and enlisted co producer and engineer Tyler Thompson(Fruition, TK & The Holy Know Nothings) to make his first full length record. He recorded with various musicians in studios in Colorado and Oregon to make “Hold True”. The album mixed heartbreak and haunting social commentary with Parsons’s wry sense of humor. He toured throughout the country and became a yearly mainstay at festivals like Northwest String Summit and Sawtooth Valley Gathering.

Parsons has collaborated with Bart Budwig, John Craigie, Fruition, Cabinet and numerous others throughout his career. He has written, co-written and produced dozens of tracks while earning a reputation as a talented songwriter and dynamic live performer.

It happened. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. Folks who know, drove from as far away as Walla Walla and Joseph to catch the great David Francey, with Christopher Murphy and Linda Yapp. It was superb, and lasting friendships were made that will be cherished for the rest of life. Of course, Darren Reynolds of Square Productions dialed the sound in perfectly, so much so that the quality of the audio was still a topic of discussion over coffee this morning!
