Hundreds of pounds of supplies were delivered to Gander, and the surrounding towns, to feed, clothe, and comfort its 7,000 temporary residents. The poignant lesson learned of compassion, generosity, and finding light in the darkest of places still rings true. We take this lesson with us to this day, and beyond.

Congratulations to Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, composers of the Dear Evan Hansen score, on achieving EGOT status! 🏆️⁠

Pasek and Paul just received the E for their EGOT, winning a Creative Arts Emmy for the song “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” from Only Murders in the Building. Previously, the pair won a Tony and Grammy for Dear Evan Hansen and an Oscar for LA LA LAND's “City of Stars.” Benj and Justin become the fastest EGOT winners—with only seven years, seven months separating their first Academy Award for LA LA LAND to this year's Emmy win. They also tie for the distinction of being the youngest to ever EGOT and are only the second in history to EGOT as a team, after Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Renowned international and national children’s theater companies are presented each year. The performances are held in the morning and meet Texas and Louisiana State learning criteria, making them ideal field trips for classes!⁠

The Magic of Kevin Spencer is a fun-filled show that combines storytelling, stage magic and audience participation. 🪄

This sensory-inclusive performance is designed to create an experience that is welcoming to all audiences including families of children with autism or other developmental or intellectual disabilities that create sensory sensitivities.

Out of an abundance of caution, Lutcher Theater will be closing early Tuesday, September 10, at noon and closed Wednesday, September 11, in anticipation of inclement weather. We plan to resume regular hours on Thursday, September 12, and will continue to monitor conditions. Stay safe!

Purple Martin Houses are now located in Stark Park! 🐦 🏠

Purple Martins are entirely dependent on humans for housing and prefer this type of gourd shaped houses. These incredible acrobats need a 30’ flyway to their nest site, where they will return to each year. Purple Martins scout in the fall from Ecuador, so keep an eye out for them!

We held our first “Intersections: Where the Professional Stage Meets Education” professional development last week for SETX and SWLA teachers! Technical Director David Boehme took area educators on a tour of the Lutcher, discussing technical elements and discussing what it takes to host a Broadway touring company.
