It’s National Creativity Day! How are you celebrating?! Today has been split between prepping for Saturday’s kick off of the Summer Embroidery Stitch Along and playing along with EPP shapes and patterns. So many possibilities!

Our Open Studio on Saturday will be a bit later in the day than the norm due to an early morning private workshop.

I’m so happy that so many of you are joining me in some hand embroidery this summer!

I designed a graphic by making a sticker from a section of fabric that I will be using during the Stitch Along. Please share on social media to help me spread the word.

Saturday was our Open Studio, and I want to thank everyone who stopped by! It’s always nice to welcome you to The Craft Table, and it warms my heart hearing how much you love being here! I didn’t take any pictures (I really need to figure out a way to remember to do that) so I took a selfie after everyone left. (Notice how I’m holding my stitching upside down 🙃 🙄😜)?!

I told everyone that I would have my stitching on this project finished by the weekend, and I did!!! It was difficult to stop as I wanted to keep on stitching, but it had never been my intention to stitch every object. The panel is gorgeous by itself and I just wanted to add some texture. It’s hard to know when enough is enough though, right?!

Swipe to see a picture of the pillow I made as well as some closeups so you can see the stitching detail. I think the pillow looks nice on my stitching chair. The colors match my blue velvet chairs at home too so we will see where it ends up.

Actually I am thinking of stitching another panel and framing it to hang at home. Any interest in a low key summer stitch along? Leave me a comment if you might be game.

These Tula Pink stargazer project bags make WIPs look good!!! (If only they could help *finish* those works in progress 😜) Notice how the back of the bag allows the colors of the fabric to enhance the stargazer design ✨ There’s a variety of and charm squares of Neon True Colors and Tiny Coordinates in the bag currently along with supplies. You can find the bags in the shop under Notions.

Thank you to everyone who joined us Saturday for January’s Open Studio! It was hopping and so nice to see familiar faces and welcome new ones 😃 I worked on my and yesterday I finally finished stitching round 4 onto the center. Yay! Now to select fabrics for the next few rounds. My fabric pull includes Alison Glass Chrysanthemum and low volume fabrics. I hope your week is off to a creative start!

In the latest newsletter I link to several sew alongs happening at the moment. A super quick and fun one is the with Hannah ✂️
I save all of my selvages and it was fun to sort through them with an eye to finding letters which I hadn’t considered before now. Here is mine which I turned into a pincushion. I love having an opportunity to use our fabric ribbon as a tag! So cute! My next one will be made into a name badge for QuiltCon. Go sort through those selvages and make one too!

First day back in the shop was spent shipping orders, unpacking boxes that arrived while we were away, and adding items to the website. At the end of the day, I couldn’t resist opening up my copy of Tula Pink’s Tumbling Cosmos quilt and basting a few shapes just to dip my toe into the pattern. I love her version obviously, but I’m going to go scrappy 😊 We have the pattern, papers, and templates in the shop.

With an artistic eye and lifetime love of crafts, Rene' Martinez began quilting in 2004 and soon discovered a new passion. She was delighted to find herself in the middle of a new movement and a welcoming community of like-minded creatives.
