For over thirty years, I’ve been blessed to call a truly remarkable woman my best friend. She's been my rock, my confidante, my constant in an ever-changing world. Now, it's my turn to be there for her.
My friend, a loving mother of two beautiful children aged 6 and 8, was recently diagnosed with parotid gland cancer. The journey so far has been nothing short of a roller-coaster. She has already undergone two major surgeries, which unfortunately led to the removal of her 7th cranial nerve – a vital component that controls facial expressions and movements. This development has resulted in weakness on one side of her face, droopy cheeks, slurred speech, and a lopsided smile. She can’t chew anymore, and all her food has to be processed through a blender.
However, her spirit remains unbroken. Despite her struggles, she's the epitome of resilience, always greeting me with a happy voice, saying "I'll be okay, don't worry!" It's her strength that keeps me going, but it's also the reason I'm reaching out to all of you today.
Next week, she will begin her first round of chemotherapy. This treatment, while necessary, is costly and places an additional burden on her already difficult situation. That's why I'm starting this GoFundMe campaign: to alleviate the financial stress that comes with fighting cancer and to ensure she can focus solely on her recovery.
Most heartbreakingly, she is worried about not being able to take care of her young children. After her surgery, her six -year-old daughter asked, "Mom, will your face be normal again?" Fighting back tears, she responded, "If you had a choice that mom would stay with you forever but with a different face, or leave with a beautiful face, which one would you choose?" Without hesitation, her daughter chose her mom to stay forever, no matter what.
This is not just a campaign to cover medical expenses; it's a campaign to preserve a mother's presence in her children's lives, to ensure my best friend can continue being the beacon of strength we know her to be. No child should worry about losing their mom, and no woman as vibrant as my friend should fear not being there for her kids.
I believe in the power of collective kindness. I believe that together, we can help my friend overcome this trial and enjoy many more precious moments with her kids. Please join me in supporting her. Any amount, no matter how small, can make a huge difference.
Let's stand together, for my friend who's always stood for us, and help her keep her promise to her little girl: to stay with her forever.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. And remember, together, we are stronger.
All of my flower sales will go toward “save my friend’s smile “ fund 100%
