GET is thrilled to announce the addition of Karen Schafer to the team! Karen has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality and event industry, including roles as Member Events Manager at the prestigious Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, a Platinum Club of the World; and Associate Director of Catering at Mission Inn Resort and Club. Her experience also includes seven years with The Ritz-Carlton and The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club, with several hotel-specific positions at the properties in Sarasota, Denver, and St. Thomas. Her favorite role with the brand was her position as the Membership Experience Advisor, Midwest Region, which provided her the opportunity to plan and host marketing events in Colorado, Texas, and Illinois, along with Member Experiences at the club properties in Bachelor Gulch, Vail and Aspen. In her personal time, Karen stays active and will be participating in her second triathlon this July with her dad. In her new role at GET, Karen is excited to provide both elevated experiences and service; and we are absolutely delighted to have her as part of the team! 💚🤍💙

Shaped like a champagne bottle, coated in black granite and 24k gold leaf, and steeped in tradition, Chicago’s iconic Carbide & Carbon building has been reimagined and recently opened as the Pendry Chicago. Colorado is calling! Late last month the Colorado governor signed the state’s Meeting and Events Incentive Bill. In coordination with Destination Colorado and the Colorado Tourism Office, the Meetings and Events Incentive Program launched to provide rebates to approved events held in Colorado between July 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2022.

Last week some of the team stopped in to see how things are shaping up at the new Lake Nona Wave Hotel. Scheduled to open in November, this hotel is like none other. Built in 1965, this luxury property is an icon; and Richard Stockton, Braemar’s CEO, is quoted as saying, "The acquisition of the Mr. C is an opportunity for us to acquire an irreplaceable luxury property in a premier location in the heart of West Los Angeles."

Exciting news coming from Royal Caribbean International! Cruises could set sail again as early as late June with volunteer passengers. The CDC approved these measures, allowing the cruise line to conduct simulated cruises to test their COVID-19 safety measures on the Freedom of the Seas. One step closer to getting back to normal!
