“Mike has been such a supporter for me. He's just been wonderful. Without Mike I would not be where I am today.”
In 2015, Darlene Bradley began experiencing cognitive problems, which led to a demotion at work, a setback she describes as one of the most difficult experiences in her life.
Two years later, Darlene retired after having an episode of transient global amnesia (TGA), in which she didn’t remember dancing with her son at his wedding. In wake of her TGA and ongoing cognitive struggles, Darlene volunteered for a clinical trial. In conjunction with her participation, she received testing and was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s.
Darlene’s husband, Mike, serves as her care partner and supports Darlene in using her voice to inspire others as a member of our Early-Stage Advisory Group. Join Darlene in thanking a caregiver in your life by visiting alz.org/nadam.
