was founded on July 2nd, 1970. We are a social, inter-tribal, non-political, and non-profit registered 501c3 organization. AIA members are urban Native Americans and interested persons living in the Central Florida area who share a common bond in the appreciation and preservation of Native American culture and traditions. proudly hosts one of the largest Native American Powwows in the state of Flo
rida, the AIA Orlando Powwow. Our powwow is funded entirely by donations and organized by our members. Proceeds benefit Native American and local charities. Our Organization is proud of what has been accomplished at the annual event in the past years. The AIA Orlando Powwow has become well known across the United States among Native Americans and Hobbyist (non-Indians) alike. Held during the first full weekend in November every year, the event has grown with thousands of visitors and hundreds of dancers participating. The Central Florida community welcomes our powwow each year with proclamations from local governments designating the month of November as Native American Heritage Month. The first day of our powwow is dedicated to teaching area students about Native American culture. As part of our Sunday powwow schedule of activities, the AIA invites area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to experience Native American culture and customs firsthand during our "Scout's Day". We invite you to attend the AIA Orlando Powwow, a celebration of Native American foods, arts, crafts, music, entertainment, storytelling, and dance.
