Howl At The Moon is a dueling piano bar on the 2nd floor of the Power And Light covered stage area. We were asked to do something for the welcome party for a national insurance company. These are tiny tables and it is seriously dark! We have these small orange cube vases and designed them with ranunculus and poppies to help cheer up the space. Votive candles were even too big so I added two pillow lights. Loved it when the staff told me the room never looked this good before!

There are folks who feel important when they get that fancy car. Others feel confident because they got reservations at a popular restaurant. Dennis Patton was a big deal in a more important way. He made loads of people feel confident and special through teaching horticulture in all forms. He wrote the KC gardens column in the Star for 30 years, for 35 years was a big part of the KState's Johnson County Extension office and guided hundreds through the Master Gardener Program. He joyfully touched many lives and I knew him as a BIG EFFIN DEAL! Laura Patton asked for a garden to decorate his simple wooden box on display at the new Johnson County Arboretum Long House and on Saturday it was moved to Atonement Lutheran for his grand send off. He will sorely be missed!!!

Barbara Storm asked me if we could create a focalpoint centerpiece for the patrons of the opening night of the student production of The Pirates of Penzance at U.M.KC. Philip cut out the skull and crossbones and I added my Knights of Columbus grand poobah fancy hat. My bead collection came in handy for the treasure chest. The production was quite spirited and well acted. The music was flawless and operatic voices were well rehearsed. This was Broadway in KC!

Just delivered a breath of spring to the entry of The Walnuts. The black marble niches used to have mail and phones but sat empty for years. My friend Russ lives there and asked us to make the lobby feel like a smile!

Trish from Teal Lotus got this shot of me at the Downtown Overland Park St. Patrick's parade today. What an amazing, overwhelming, thrilling, weird experience and I will never forget all the friends and neighbors waving frantically at Virgil and me. Adam Vega drove me in a 1957 Bel-aire that he is restoring for a client at his garage. Just a beautiful day and 12 minutes later I was back at my shop. No longer a Grand Marshal. Private citizen Craig Sole, posey poker!

The Friends of Chamber Music decided to host their gala in the Tudor Room of HotelKC, the former Kansas City Club. The exquisite stained glass window was the inspiration for their color scheme. We used a lot of primary colors in the spring floral centerpieces. Philip loaned his violin for the podium focal piece.

Today was national Pi day since Pi starts with 3.14....etc. The way we are supposed to celebrate is with a slice of pie. Philip whomped up a Styrofoam, foam rubber, fiberfill and ribbon curl slice of French Silk and we put it into a spring bouquet for our neighbor Upper Crust. Their pies will take you to heaven!

Angi just dropped off my banner for the 2024 Downtown OP St. Patrick's Day Parade. 3 years ago Curt Skoog was the new mayor and was honored to be the Grand Marshal. Last year Frank Thompson donated a MILLION Dollars to restore the park and he got to wave at the parade crowd. Somehow I will be the Grand Marshal because I have had my shop here for 32 years and I own a green convertible. The criteria seems to change every year! So come see me at 10am on Saturday the 16th. I will CAREFULLY hand out candy because if I tossed it Mardi Gras style the kids MIGHT crawl under the car and, well, you know... A very litigious problem.
