Hey you, photographer! Here are some details and camera settings for capturing the northern lights: 🌄

1. Manual Mode: Use manual mode to control exposure, aperture, and ISO.
2. Wide-Angle Lens: A wide-angle lens (10-24mm) is ideal for capturing the vastness of the aurora.
3. Low ISO: Keep the ISO low (100-400) to minimize noise and digital artifacts.
4. Slow Shutter Speed: Use a slow shutter speed (10-30 seconds) to capture the movement and trails of the aurora.
5. Aperture: Set the aperture to f/2.8 or lower (f/1.4 or f/1.😎 to allow more light in.
6. Focus: Use manual focus or infinity focus to ensure a sharp image.
7. Shoot in RAW format to capture more image data and allow for better post-processing.
8. Tripod: Use a sturdy tripod to stabilize the camera and prevent camera shake.
9. Remote Shutter Release: Use a remote shutter release or the camera's self-timer to minimize camera shake.
10. Bracketing: Take multiple shots at different exposure levels and merge them later using HDR software.

Viewing: The northern lights may be visible tonight in western Kentucky, depending on the weather.

Weather: The sky will be mostly clear through Sunday night, making for good viewing conditions.

Timing: The best time to see the northern lights is between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time.

What causes this?: The northern lights are caused by a surge of solar particles and energy interacting with the Earth’s magnetosphere.

Solar activity: A rare severe (G5) geomagnetic storm watch has been issued for this weekend, and at least seven coronal mass ejections are expected to arrive between Friday and Sunday.
