We get it, weddings can be expensive. You definitely don’t want to cut corners when it comes to your big day. We are here to help! Check out some of our money-saving tips! 1. Shop early for deals - There are tons of ways you can shop early to get deals. Many wedding dress stores will have big sales in December. Also, many paper product sites will run sales periodically throughout the year. If you are productive, you can hit these sales and save substantial amounts of money. 2. Create a wedding website - Gone are the days you have to send an RSVP card with a pre-paid return envelope. Those costs can really add up quickly with printing and postage. With a wedding website, you can include a QR code on your invitation or information card that will send your guest straight to the RSVP section of your website. While they’re there, they can take a look at your FAQ page, and that will cut down on some of the extra inserts people often include with their invitations. 3. Trim your guest list - We are sticklers when it comes to this rule. Your guest list is your number one driving factor when it comes to pricing for your wedding. A large guest list can add up quickly and can impact your budget in almost every aspect. If you need advice on trimming down your guest list, check out some of our other reels. We touch on this topic often. 4. Pick a venue with stunning existing features - This is something many people don’t take into account while searching for a venue. If you can find a venue that is on its own already beautiful space, it will cut your costs on trying to transform the space into your dream wedding ceremony and reception. Use the existing features in the venue to your advantage, instead of trying to change it completely. 5. Repurpose your ceremony decor - You can reuse your ceremony decor in other places during your reception. If you pick something fairly simple, you can move your arch from the ceremony space to behind your head table during the reception, or u

Cutting into a round cake can be pretty tricky, and did you know most caterers charge a fee to cut your cake? It’s no easy feat, but with a little instruction it can be a piece of cake (see what we did there). Typically if you have an event coordinator or planner there they will take care of the cake cutting for you. After doing this almost every weekend for nearly 5 years, we like to think we know a thing or two about cake cutting. Huge shoutout to Baked by Caryn for providing the cake for this demo. We hope this helps you all when it comes to cutting your wedding cakes, and really any round cake!
It takes a village to make sure every event is perfect for our clients. Maintaining a beautiful event center is no easy task, but it is always a bit sweeter when you can run it with your family. If you didn’t know, the Commonwealth Event Center and Bluegrass Event Planning are family operated businesses. When you have an event with us, you will always see one of our friendly faces. We truly could not have asked for a better team.
Bluegrass Event Planning took on The Pour Room yesterday. They launched a completely customizable wedding package, and we just had to know more! We got to enjoy the experience of making our own candle, and found out more about the wedding package. Just a few examples of things you can include in your package are: custom room scents for your ceremony and reception space, bridal party proposal gift, wedding day gifts, showers and bachelorette parties, and, our personal favorite, create a unity candle to light during your ceremony. When we say their wedding packages are completely customizable, we really mean it. You can do combinations of the above and more. Their candles are soy based which means they are better for you, and don’t cause the headaches or soot you may see from other candles. We had such a fun time creating our own scents, and we know this will be a perfect addition to any wedding.
