What a wonderful day honoring some of our local Veterans, including member Joann smith, members who’s spouses and family members served our country from the Korean War all the way to the present. When a loved one serves our Country I feel the whole family is making sacrifices for the safety of our country for this reason we celebrate them as well. Our Speaker was Jessica Mellick, President of the local Blue Star Moms. She told us what the club does. They support fellow blue star families host fundraisers to help with the cost of care packages shipped to those serving, near and far. Many members donated left over Halloween candy to be added to those care packages. Our delicious lunch was donated by Big Shots in Lancaster.

Congratulations to our very own member and club Treasurer, Denise Gregg who was crowned Senior of the Year at the 33rd annual Senior Expo on Thursday.

She is hard woman to keep up with!
She is the treasurer of three organizations in town including, The Palmdale Woman’s Club and an AARP chapter. She takes and teaches classes at Legacy Commons Center for Active Seniors and helps run a Youth Drill Team.

Some things to think about from those in need when donating food.

1. Everyone donates Kraft Mac and Cheese in the box. They can rarely use it because it needs milk and butter which is hard to get from regular food banks.
2. Boxed milk is a treasure, as kids need it for cereal which they also get a lot of.
3. Everyone donates pasta sauce and spaghetti noodles.
4. They cannot eat all the awesome canned veggies and soup unless you put a can opener in too or buy pop tops.
5. Oil is a luxury but needed for Rice a-Roni which they also get a lot of.
6. Spices or salt and pepper would be a real Christmas gift.
7. Tea bags and coffee make them feel like you care.
8. Sugar and flour are treats.
9. They fawn over fresh produce donated by farmers and grocery stores.
10. Seeds are cool in Spring and Summer because growing can be easy for some.
11. They rarely get fresh meat.
12. Tuna and crackers make a good lunch.
13. Hamburger Helper goes nowhere without ground beef.
14. They get lots of peanut butter and jelly but usually not sandwich bread.
15. Butter or margarine is nice too.
16. Eggs are a real commodity.
17. Cake mix and frosting makes it possible to make a child’s birthday cake.
18. Dishwashing detergent is very expensive and is always appreciated.
19. Feminine hygiene products are a luxury and women will cry over that.
20. Everyone loves Stove Top Stuffing.

In all the years I have donated food at the Holidays, I bought what I thought they wanted, but have never asked. I am glad I did. If you are helping a Family this Christmas, maybe this can help you tailor it more. It does for me!

We are so happy to have been recognized at the Sister City Banquet on Tuesday night. We were special guests and then they SURPRISED us with a gift of $250!! Thank you so much!!

The Palmdale Woman’s club sends our love and prayers to the Quartz Hill Woman’s Club for the loss of your long time member Becky Robison.

We are so sad to just hear the news we lost one of our great friends and club member Becky Robinson. She loved our club and we loved her. She always kept us on our toes and had the best ideas. We absolutely loved her sense of humor. She will be greatly greatly missed.

A special thanks to all who attended or made donations from the community. Without all of you we would not be able to continue to help the community. 🥰

June 8th is almost here for our next Membership Meeting. If our original scheduled program can be done we will, but otherwise let's celebrate! Dads, Grads, Brides and Birthdays! Social time at 10:30 and the meeting starting at 11AM. If you can, wear black and white or come as you feel comfortable. (I dont have any white blouses!)

Had a great morning playing bunco. Lots of opportunity prizes in addition to the Bunco prizes. Some returning guests and many new faces. 😁 So many winners, 🎉🎉 some a couple of times. Thank you to all who joined us to support the Club and efforts to help our community!
