Yes, the veggies here are HUGE! I've seen a red radish that was almost 10 pounds and a white radish that was almost 22 pounds. The cabbages and pumpkins are humongous.

There is no fee to participate! I provide the highly visible field space, fridge, microwave & bathroom. You provide your own cash till & display items. We get a lot of traffic going to & from Hatcher Pass.

People sometimes ask me how I can live in Alaska year round. THIS! You just have to find the joy around you. This tiny town is known as a Talkeetna. It is starting point for climbers hoping to reach the summit of North America’s tallest peak - Denali. It’s small, quaint, & quirky. And it hoards incredible talent in all areas of the arts & crafts in this tiny community. Blake and I took the hour & 30 min drive up north to see my costumes in action. FINALLY I see my name in lights, well sort of. More like lit up on a giant slide screen. Still, in a projector light. How thoughtful they were to add my name to the list of the real talent. These people put on such a fun show in the old airplane hangar of the infamous Don Sheldon, Denali pilot extraordinaire. (Read up on his incredible life saving feats. You’ll be amazed!). The music was nostalgic and fun. The humor was spot on. And the costumes were to die for if I do say so myself. “Dudes & Divas” was well worth the drive! Thanks for keeping life fun in Alaska no matter the weather!

Happy Birthday Bullseye to me! Grouping is important but I still like to bullseye. Shooting & dinner with good friends, George & Ann, then hoping to see a BYU Basketball win with Doug & Julie. Thanks for all the birthday warm fuzzies everyone. I need all the help I can get feeling like I deserve the air I breath and you all make me feel loved.

I was able to see the last half of preview night for “A Christ Story” last. Thank you Wade Hammond & Annie Eliason-Hammond for the ticket. Ellie & Will did so well!!!
I’m going to have to go back to see the first part when it opens this weekend. They used a bunch of my costumes and my only joy in this business is getting to see them in action. My favorites were the bullies and the women’s vintage coats they were wearing in some of the scenes. And of course I provided the bunny suit for Ralphie. They had Ralphie and the grown Ralphie (the narrator) dressed alike in all the scenes - including the bunny suit. The energy of all those kids was infectious and the talent was wonderful! The 2 brothers really had great vocal skillz and chemistry together. GO SEE IT!

Blake Schaugaard and I just got out of the Movie “Beyond Utopia”. It’s a special limited production like “The Sound Of Freedom”. We went to a 7pm showing and we were the only ones in the theater. That made me so sad. The movie needs to be seen and supported! It’s a movie filmed as the story unfolds - no reenactments. It’s about a family of 5 who were given no choice but to defect from North Korea. They ranged from the 80 year old grandmother to a young daughter maybe 4 yrs old. There is also a side story of another family’s struggles when the mother attempted escape. Pastor Kim is the hero who literally puts his life on the line and has rescued over 1000 from certain death and almost dies several times himself doing it. The majority is in subtitles with some interviews in English . Please go see it. If you have any questions about age appropriate viewing feel free to DM me. I would say for me I’d be comfortable with 12 yrs & up. Some may think a bit older. I would HOPE high school students would see it!

BEYOND UTOPIA is a must see.

Another day, another mural. Julie & I do everything we can to ensure a successful installation but sometimes we combine it with plain old luck! This wall was about as out of whack as any I’ve ever had to work with, and in spite of our best plum lines even done with the laser level to ensure accuracy we had trim off in some places and none at all and others. We literally made it right smack into the corner with nothing to spare on the bottom 2 feet of the last drop! It’s sure a unique and beautiful house!

We’ve had a LOT of photographers in our field the last few days but last night we had 4 different photo shoots. We saw 2 families including pets and 2 mothers/daughter shoots. One lady had made her own gigantic mushroom hat with flowers & butterflies and wore her wedding gown. So creative. They used my gold throne chair for some of the shots and it looked great! The fireweed isn’t as prolific this year but there’s a bigger variety of wildflowers and it’s still beautiful!

MATILDA was quite the variety of costumes! What a show! A-1 Production’s Bronson Stewart did it again with a wonderful cast, crew & orchestra. I wasn’t the costumer for this one, I just provided many of the outfits. It thrilled me to see them come to life on stage. These sibs sang so beautifully at the Christmas event the other night. They were so excited about finding their caroling outfits in my shop! I was so excited to see them singing in harmony. My mother had us singing in parts before I was 6 yrs old. I sang Alto. Now I’m a Tenor. I’m so glad to see them developing and using their God-given talents...and my costumes! 😄
