We hope to see you all Saturday, March 30th @ Mahoning Valley Speedway for the opening show of the MVS Junk Car Race Points Series!
•*Please note, MVS has practice for their divisions from 12P-4P. Sign ins will end for the Junk Car Race at 3PM with Drivers Meeting scheduled for 3:30PM and anticipated start time, following MVS open practice, at 4PM.*
MAHONING VALLEY SPEEDWAY
JUNK CAR RACE
ALL DRIVERS MUST DRILL A 3INCH HOLE OR CUT ONE FOR TRANSPONDER USE. A DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED TO GET YOUR TRANSPONDER.
DIRECTION OF TRAVEL WILL BE DETERMINED RIGHT BEFORE YOU RACE. OUR SOLE INTENTIONS ARE TO MAKE IT FAIR FOR EVERYONE.
If you cut your exhaust, you must remove whatever is not connected to the engine. Example: Pipe and muffler
A. All rules and regulations must be observed and followed. Track operators and promoters reserve the right to approve or reject all entries.
B. Only drivers will be permitted on the track.
C. No cars permitted on the track before the heat they are to participate in.
D. Members of the auto race are not employees of the track operators or the promoter.
E. No alcoholic beverages allowed. Drivers that are or have been drinking will be disqualified.
F. All drivers must wear safety belts and helmets.
G. Long sleeved shirts, long pants, and closed toe shoes are required.
H. All drivers must be present one-half hour before scheduled start time.
I. No ramming the driver’s door deliberately.
J. Feature laps will be set by the judges.
K. The race will be composed of a feature only.
L. ALL CARS MUST HAVE FUNCTIONING BRAKES WITHOUT USING EMERGENCY BRAKE.
Participating regulations
1. Any factory 4- or 6-cylinder Uni body automobile only. NO 8 CYLINDER OR FULL FRAME VEHICLES
* Front or rear wheel drive is acceptable
* No diesel or turbocharged
* No AWD or 4WD allowed, you must remove one drive shaft of your choosing .
2. Cars must appear stock, unless noted below. THIS INCLUDES THE SUSPENSION.
3. All glass, plastic trim, outside door handles, chrome and fiber glass noses must be removed prior to arrival. This includes insider door panels ( drivers door panel may stay for safety ) . CARS MUST BE CLEAN OF DEBRIS AND BROKEN GLASS, SCREWS ETC.
4. Windshield and rubber bumper covers are optional.
5. All anti-freeze and freon must be drained prior to arriving at the track.
6. All airbags must be removed.
7. Battery may be moved to passenger front floor. Must be secured and covered. NO self tapping screws or ratchet straps. Judges decision will be final.
Fuel system
8. Electric fuel pumps are permitted. They must have a visible switch for track personnel in case of fire.
9. Stock tanks may be used if they are located rear axle forward underneath the car
10. No stock tanks permitted inside the car. metal or plastic boat tanks, or pre- approved fuel cells must be securely mounted in the back seat area of the car using metal strapping.
Tires
11. Tires must be 300 treadwear or higher, D.O.T only. Tire ratings must be visable, no grounding off.
* 3 of the 4 wheel / tire combos must be the same size.
- example: (3) 15in wheels with 205/60/15 tires + (1) donut / bigger or smaller wheel tire combo.
12. Factory steel or aluminum wheels only. Offset must be the same on 3 of the 4 wheels.
Body
13. Hoods and Trunks may be fastened down, bolted, chained or wired.
14. Must have a hole in hood, in case of fire.
15. Hoods must be open for inspection.
16. Doors; must be chained, wired or cabled or welded shut.
17. All sunroofs must be covered.
18. All cage material must remain in drivers compartment only, no further back than the rear seat, no further forward than the firewall.
19. No cage material allowed in the trunk or under the hood.
20. Rub rails are permited but no nerf bars.
21. No gutting of doors. No addng of sheet metal for inner decking.
Suspension
22. Rear ends may be locked. They also may be swapped from another make/model (rear wheel drive only), but it must remain stock suspension. If front wheel drive must have stock rear axle
23. Drive shaft must remain factory stock.
24. Suspensions must move with one man’s effort. No reinforcing or altering of any kind. Tie rods included. Any questions regarding this, call.
* No adjustable coil overs, shocks, springs. No spring rubbers or spacers. Must remain OEM.
* 1/4" max camber allowed in all 4 corners.
Engines
25. Exhaust may exit through the hood (must be ten inches above the carburetor or throttle body). If you cut your exhaust, you must remove whatever is not connected to the engine. Example: Pipe and muffler
26. Engine swaps are acceptable. Engine mounts may be welded, chained or bolted solid. No engine protectors/cradles.
27. Shifting mechanism may be altered.
28. The gas/brake pedal may be altered.
Bumpers
29. Bumpers, may be bolted solid or welded. Bumper plungers may be welded.
30. Bumpers may be swapped with other makes and models.
31. Bumpers you may use a piece of 4x4 or 2x6 box tube, c channel or round pipe ¼ thick max (will be measured) bumpers may be no wider than the width of the car., if you plan to use a piece of ` C` channel for a bumper you must mount the legs of the channel to the frame rails. The flat part must be facing out. no loops or kickers, when making your homemade bumper, we highly recommend that the ends to be made at a 45-degree angle, to prevent poking through doors,
32. Any bumper mounting brackets or tubing may not be longer than 12 inches inside or outside when mounting bumper.
33. All home made bumpers must be cut off center of tread.
Frame
34. No welding of frames or body seams. Rust repair may be made on the frame with the same thickness metal 1 inch passed the hole only. Trailer hitches must be removed. You may chain the front sub frame to the body one chain per side. You may run one chain from lower A-arm to lower A-arm. NO skid plates
35. No stuffing frames.
36. Car and driver qualify, no swapping cars.
37. To make inspection faster and easier on you, please follow all the rules.
38. All decisions by judges are final.
39. Feature will pay $600 to the winner, $200 for second, $100 for third
