Holy Moley, were we ever busy this weekend?!!! We ended up serving out another record amount of food for the 2 day event, and got to see even more new faces along with all of our familiar ones as well. Round 2. Let’s dance! That Rockwood Charcoal been doing its job all night long.
The rain has put us behind a bit, but we will still be ready to serve by 11 this morning, and ribs will be rolling off at noon. We’ll have our regular style wet ribs available, along with a couple of Memphis style racks if you prefer those instead.

In addition to BBQ this weekend, the girls have been hard at work on their amazing baked goods and will have them available in the trailer! This will include homemade cinnamon rolls, hummingbird cupcakes, apple pie cupcakes, Reese’s Peanut Butter cookies, and M & M cookies. Safe to say we’re planning to get you hooked one way or another!

BBQ is the perfect fuel for a beautiful weekend of yard salin’! We’ll have the Q-Choo all cranked up and this Friday & Saturday for the Route 111 35+ Mile Yard Sale serving up all the faves. Look for us just south of the 4 way stop in Palmyra on Friday, and north of the Modesto Park on Saturday. We’ll have our signature pulled pork & brisket both days, with the addition of tasty Texas style sliced turkey breast Friday, and ribs on Saturday. Make it a meal with a plethora of sides, or we will also be doing our yearly Brown Bag specials. Hope to see you out & about this weekend, and we look forward to serving y’all!

We put our own little taste spin on a Jeff Bartels & Tyler Davis (aka The Purpose Full BBQ Experience) classic recipe with the queso, and dusted up those cream cheese blocks with one of our new fave rubs, M/W Smokers Hog Toss. Gonna be some good eatin’ for the football crowd tonight to go along with all the other tasty vittles!

Very long day, but a very productive one at the 9th annual Greenfield BBQ by the Lake. Got to see and visit with many of our great BBQ friends that we don’t often get to, and met some new ones as well. We are very fortunate in that aspect that this event brings us all together.
After a very busy Greenfield-Northwestern homecoming Friday that saw multiple trips to and from both communities, I managed to get all our proteins trimmed up and got to bed around 3 am Saturday, only to have the alarm go off at 6:30 to start the day. After some necessary caffeinating, we had a solid cook and were lucky enough to hear our names called among some very good teams.

Blanked again today at Smoke N for the Kids today in Troy. Thought we had a really great cook (except for chicken), but I left once again scratching my head. On the bright side, we did manage all 9s in appearance for every category, and I’m 1 contest away from meeting my goal weight 😁

We are home & recovering from a couple of hot days cooking at the Smokin’ for the Vets cookoff in Germantown, IL. Huge thanks to Tim & Amanda Wempe and the SAL for their hard work in putting on this contest.
Great cook yesterday with a few hiccups, but I’m glad to have a voice of reason there to talk me off the ledge when it hits the fan. Thank you babe 😘

Shouting GOOD LUCK to our Illinois District 17/ Tri-County Thunder Senior League softball team today! They will play for a World Series championship in Sussex Co., DE in a little while. Watched most of you ladies grow up on a softball field, and know for sure you have what it takes to bring home the ‘Ship. Have a great game!!!

Still unpacking from a long weekend with great friends competing at Code 3 Spices - Smokin' on Main in Collinsville. Huge thank you to the whole Code 3 crew & the volunteers that make this event a perennial success.
We ran the gambit of weather conditions Saturday between boiling heat and a torrential storm that brought with it gale force winds, ripping a remainder portion of the roof off one of the Main St. businesses and depositing it directly between 2 cook teams. No one hurt and nothing else damaged, thank God!
Our pork steak turn in turned out phenomenal, unfortunately it didn’t see eye to eye with the judges I guess 🤷‍♂️ Congrats to Kyle Korte on punching his ticket to the SCA World Championship with his pork steak!
Sunday rolled around, and we were ready. Up bright and early to get big meats on and roll through the day. With the exception of chicken, our cook was one of the best we’ve had, and I was confident that we’d have a shot in such a stacked field.

I was wrong. Dead wrong, and almost DAL wrong in a few cases. I guess I’ve got a lot to learn about cooking at this level with the caliber of talent in the SLBS.

Not even worth posting where we finished, just know it wasn’t good.
Huge congrats to all the teams that heard their names called and got to walk the stage, including Nathan Brewmaster for winning GC 2 years in a row, and our great friends Chris & Eddie Schafer Heavy Smoke BBQ on RGC.
See y’all back out on the BBQ trail again very soon!
