It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our co-president and a driving force in our organization, Alice Sklar. She was diagnosed with glioblastoma (stage 4, brain cancer tumors) in October 2019, and died at 7:30 in the evening on Saturday, January 18th, 2020, at Stanford Hospital Medical Center.

Alice was born in the Bronx, New York and grew up there with her parents and brother. She attended PS 95 elementary school, Music and Art High School, and New York City College. She married Alan Sklar and moved to Palo Alto. There she had three daughters. As her children grew, she returned to Santa Clara University in pursuit of a master’s degree in Marriage Family and Child Counselling.

She was 79 years old and lived in Palo Alto since 1970. Alice will be remembered as a loving wife and lifetime companion to Alan Sklar, a loyal friend, neighbor, musician, therapist, community leader, sister, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include Alice’s brother Leonard Stanley, daughters and sons-in-law; Jessica and Steven Nimoy of Agoura, Calif., Emily and Daniel Wexler of Berkeley, Calif., and Naomi and Timothy Albertson of Reno, Nevada; and grandchildren, Trevor and Robert Nimoy and Cooper and Lola Albertson.
