Youth exhibitor Judah Fischer all set up for his Emerging Artist opening tonight 5-7pm. Coordinated by local artist Cayden Marie.
Come see his beautiful work in person!

"17-year-old North Fork High School student Judah Fischer expresses himself in an authentic way through his art while expressing his beliefs and core values in an accessible way.

He began experimenting with numerous mediums in elementary school, but for the past few years started taking art more seriously; namely with watercolor.

Judah's paintings show who he is, without caring about the judgment of those viewing it. He expresses emotions, ideas and creates environments he likes. Art helps him through hard times, and sometimes the results aren't pretty, but he stands by what he makes because he knows each piece represents a part of him."

Join us tomorrow night for our first concert of the season! Doors at 6:30 show at 7pm. Buy tickets online or in the gallery.
"Quarteto Nuevo merges western classical, eastern European folk, Latin and jazz with an organic feel that packs a wallop! The ensemble’s razor-sharp precision is enhanced by jazzy interludes, lightly rumbling percussion motifs and mesmerizing rhythms. They effectively meld the music of ancient worlds and faraway places with a contemporary groove that enchants audiences of all ages! Winners of the Beverly Hills National Auditions, Quarteto’s master musicians create emotionally-charged soundscapes with instruments and sensibilities that represent very different world cultures. Their unique instrumentation richly colors their wide-ranging repertoire, from Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Bachianas Brasileiras” and Chick Corea’s “Children’s Song No. 6” to Traditional Macedonian “Gadjarsko” and original works “Hector, Desmond and Titus”, “Rain Song” and “Dizer O Que”."

Damon Zick – soprano saxophone, woodwinds

Kenton Youngstrom – acoustic guitar

Jacob Szekely – cello

Felipe Fraga – percussion

New Japanese Block Printing Workshop announcement with Leon Loughridge! Taking place March 29th & 30th, 11:30-4:30 each day. All levels welcome. $300 includes materials. Space limited to 5. Sign up on website or scan QR code here.

"The two day workshop will introduce students to the Japanese style of printing, commonly referred to as Moku Hanga. The goal of the workshop is to provide the student with the knowledge and skill to independently explore the process on their own. The workshop starts with a brief history of Japanese printing and then introduces the various tools, inks and papers involved in the process. Students will start with a pre-designed woodblock which will introduce the basic procedures in printing Moku Hanga. An uncut block is available for students to create a small simple design that can be carved and printed in the limited time available.

The course fee includes all materials: paper, pre-carved block, uncarved block, and inks.  Brushes and carving tools will be available for use if needed.

The Moku Hanga process is all about touch. The artist is directly involved throughout the entire process where the artist’s hand carves the block, mixes the ink, applies the ink with a brush and burnishes with a baren to transfer the image."

Join us tomorrow evening for our Final Friday Opening Reception of Peggy Judy and Jamie Roeber with happy hour live music by local Cowboy and artist Ross Kirkham! Enjoy his acoustic melodies, and be sure to stop in the gift shop to see his incredible ink illustrations of landmarks from around Western Colorado.

"I fell in love with The West at an early age. My father grew up on a ranch in Carbondale, CO, during the Great Depression. One of my uncles was an old range rider from Carbondale, so I heard stories of that life during my childhood. My mother’s father was a newspaperman who also collected books & records, he had a wonderful collection of Western history and loved Western art. It was because of these influences, I was destined to be a
Cowboy.

During my high school years, we lived in Black Forest, CO, and I started keeping my own horses from the time I was fourteen. My best friend in school came from a ranch family, and with his influence, I started going to Little Britches Camp & high school rodeos, I
was not that successful, but I loved every minute of it. My friend and I enrolled in the horse production program at Lamar Community College for a couple of semesters, but we were not cut out for school. It was about this time that I figured out that I could do a fairly decent job of drawing what my eye was looking at. And 50 years later, I am still at it, but I never really set out to be an artist.

I went to work for the Hotter Brothers Ranches in Durango, CO, in 1975 and stayed about 7 years. They raised Hereford cows and Quarter Horses. It was a great learning experience in all facets of ranch work. I have also worked as a Horseshoer, Range Rider, Fence Builder, Ranch Manager, Hunting Guide and Camp Cook during those years. In 1986 my parents, who were retired, bought a dilapidated ranch in Delta County, CO, mainly because they thought I needed some direction in my life. Thirty-eight years later, I am still there with my wife Nancy of thirty-five years, who grew up in Delta.
I came by music accidentally you might say when I met a couple of good guitar players
during my single years. I have now been playing guitar and writing songs for 40 years."

Peggy Judy, featured Oil Painter artist for February.

Come see her work this Friday for our opening reception with Jamie Roeber and live music by Ross Kirkham! 5-7pm.

"Born and raised in Colorado, attended Colorado State University receiving a BFA in Illustration. Married to an equine veterinarian, raising two children and breeding, raising and training horses for thirty years left little time to pursue a career in art until the last five years or so. Now represented by top art galleries with an emphasis on contemporary western art around the country.

My work has been categorized as Contemporary Western. Traditional and well honored western subject matter with a different perspective and expressive interpretation. Using a more graphic approach to composition and design that comes from my illustration background I try to describe the intensity of the west as it was lived in the past and still is today by a select few of weathered souls. Portray the animals that still grace our western states and those that care for them.

My work resides here in the USA as well as the UK and Europe. I have been honored with acceptance into Major Western Art Shows and Museum around the western United States."

Jamie Roeber (Art Teacher  North Fork High School) - featured 3D Artist for February

Come see her work this Friday for our opening reception with Peggy Judy and live music by Ross Kirkham! 5-7pm

"The country flows through Jamie Roeber’s blood, inspiring her creative side to round up Western-inspired natural materials and create various forms.  Known fondly as the “Hippie Cowgirl,” she received her bachelor's degree from Fort Lewis College and a Masters of Art from Regis. As an art educator, Jamie focuses on expanding her and her students’ creative skills through various mediums, techniques, and processes. In this environment, she engages in the attitude of diverse circumstances, endless possibilities, and pushing the envelope. Jamie believes “art is the opportunity to develop lifelong skills that are invaluable to the personal and professional development of the whole person.”

She focuses on recycled and upcycled materials. Life experiences inspire each skull's colors, stone inlays, and names. The idea of painting on skulls started as one of these experiential concepts. Could she turn something gross, dead, and left behind into something people saw as hopeful and visually pleasing? Skull painting becomes a form of art therapy and provides an avenue to heal from past trauma. These conceptual yet organic pieces create a new belief in possibilities. They are more than the past; they are the eye-catchers that transcend into the living while giving life to the ideology of the West."
