The International Center for Music at Park University and NAVO are proud to be opening both of our seasons with a spectacular joint concert on September 20th, 7:30 p.m., at The Folly Theater. In this collaboration, the concerts features the premiere of a newly revised version of Genius Loci by NAVO’s composer-in-residence, Ingrid Stölzel, written for Shah Sadikov who will also be conducting.

Composer Ingrid Stölzel has been described as having “a gift for melody” (San Francisco Classical Voice) and creating work that is “richly introspective” (BBC Music Magazine) and “downright beautiful” (American Record Guide). Her exquisitely crafted compositions are united in the belief that music can create profound emotional connections with the listener.

Stölzel said of the piece: "Genius Loci, from the Latin 'spirit of place,' refers to the unique atmosphere of a place. Composers, writers and artists throughout history have been inspired by place. Their works are not about the representation of a place but rather the distinctive residue that inspires expression. It is in this sense that Genius Loci – Spirit of Place is my own exploration of the meaning of 'place.'"

Tickets for this incredible concert are available at ICM.PARK.EDU.
