Theater Arts in Caltech, directed by Brian Brophy, presents "The Sunrise from the Moon."

Synopsis:

Imagine future space missions with humans populating the lunar terrain. In Manikowski's play, NASA's first lunar colony Montgomery suffers a tragic collapse, but one human survives: Annaliese, a 25-year-old woman born on the Moon, with ten of those years spent alone. Following her discovery, Annaliese is rescued and returned to Earth, where — alongside her own pained search for identity — she is caught in the crosshairs of competing agendas between NASA investigators. Featuring an eclectic cast of characters and satisfying moments of surprise, this sleek drama is also a love story that probes the complexity of the human condition.

The Caltech Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Glenn D. Price will present Wondrous Tales on the Caltech campus. Performances will take place on Saturday, May 21 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, May 22 at 3:00 pm in Ramo Auditorium. Featured music will be Slavonic Dance Op. 46, No. 8 by Dvořák, Lt. Kijé Suite by Prokofiev, and Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. Both concerts will have the same program.

40th Annual Bandorama

The Caltech Jazz Band, directed by Barb Catlin will perform on Friday, May 13 at 8:00 pm in Ramo Auditorium. They will close their 2021-2022 season with a selection of diverse compositions. The program will feature music by iconic Los Angeles composers, Bob Florence, John Clayton, and Sammy Nestico, as well as a contemporary offering by Maria Schneider featuring undergraduate student Tighe Didden. Graduate student, Elijah Kane, will be featured in a tribute to Chick Corea. The Caltech Jazz Guitar Ensemble, featuring graduate students David Miller and Connor McMahan, will perform a special musical interlude.

The Caltech Wind Orchestra, directed by Dr. Glenn D. Price will present "American Stories" on Saturday, May 14 at 8:00 pm in Ramo Auditorium. Featured will be music by John Williams, Frank Ticheli, Erika Svanoe, Oscar Navarro, plus the CWO Chamber Ensembles.Masks are required.

Proof of up to date vaccination and photo ID will be checked at the door.
Admission is free and no tickets needed.

The Caltech Chamber Music Ensembles, directed by Maia Jasper White, present their spring concert series. There will be a Mother's Day Concert on Sunday, May 8 at 3:00 pm, and a Marathon concert on May 15 at 3:00 pm.

Featured will be the music of Dvorak, Mozart, Telemann, Brahms, Kodaly, Martinu & more. Each concert will have a different program and will take place in Dabney Lounge on the Caltech campus.
