THANK YOU to everyone who plans to attend our Winter Concerts this Saturday and Sunday! At this time, the concert on Dec. 9 at First United Methodist Church is sold out, but we do have a wait list. There are a handful of tickets left for the concert on December 10 at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.

If you can no longer attend the concert on Saturday, December 9, please reach out to Marketing and Communications Manager Jared Clark at [email protected]. We can arrange for refunds to this concert to help facilitate seating for our families on the wait list.

Thank you! And we'll see you at the concerts. We are so excited to share everything we've been learning so far this season!

Yesterday, Intermediate Choir (along with soloists Trinity De La Cruz, Zion Berry, and Leah Taylor) performed at Monte Vista Grove homes in Pasadena. They were introduced by founding Artistic Director, Rebecca Thompson and Artistic Director emerita, Anne Tomlinson. Many thanks to Monte Vista Grove Homes for the opportunity to share our talents with your residents! (Masks were worn to protect this vulnerable population.)

Today is Giving Tuesday! We are dedicating fundraising efforts this month to our new scholarship fund, Every Child Sings. Our goal for the first year of this fund is to raise $100,000, and we are on our way with nearly $10,000 raised since our launch.

Los Angeles Children’s Chorus is a training ground for future classical singers. LACC alumnus, Jamie Felix-Toll (pictured) recently starred in "Albert Herring" at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he is an undergraduate voice student. When asked how LACC prepared him for his studies he had this to say:

“My experience in LACC has helped me immensely in my time at Oberlin. My abilities as a musician and love for the art of singing were cultivated during my 12 years there. To get more specific, my love of opera came directly from the experiences I had with LA Opera through LACC as a young person. I’m so grateful to have grown up in this organization and know that it will continue to give more kids what it has given me.”

Last year, more choristers followed in Jamie’s footsteps. Three of our graduating seniors in 2023 matriculated at top-tier vocal programs. Ryan Liddy, Oscar Yum, and Amelie Besch began voice study at USC, Northwestern, and the University of Michigan, respectively.

LACC provides choristers with a holistic music education that sets them above their peers when they enter undergraduate music study. The majority of our graduates are able to test out of their first year of music theory training, thanks to the rigor of LACC’s musicianship program. Our choristers are also well-versed in a wide array of repertoire. Most importantly, they know how to carry themselves in a professional and collegial manner.

Wow! LACC's own Jackie Koo, pianist for Intermediate Choir, visited South Korea earlier this month where she performed at the "Blue House," South Korea's equivalent of the White House. The visit was part of 2023 Blue House Concert II, which celebrated 70 years of peace between the U.S. and South Korea.

Save the Date! On Friday, April 12, 2024, the Los Angeles Children's Chorus Spring Benefit will take place at Zipper Hall at the Colburn School in Downtown Los Angeles.

Every Child Sings is LACC's new Scholarship Fund and our annual benefit will be supporting this cause. With each year that LACC chorister numbers grow, so do our requests for financial aid. The need for a robust scholarship fund has never been greater.

Today we are launching Every Child Sings, the LACC Scholarship Fund. As Los Angeles Children’s Chorus expands, our focus is on equity and inclusion. We want every child who wishes to take part in our programs to have a place on the choral risers.

With each year that LACC chorister numbers grow, so do our requests for financial aid. This season was especially challenging with concurrent strikes in the entertainment industry and the increasingly high cost of living in LA County. The need for a robust scholarship fund has never been greater.

This November, there will be several ways for you to support Every Child Sings, from our Preparatory Choir performance fundraiser, to Giving Tuesday. When you donate to Every Child Sings, ninety cents of every dollar contributed goes directly to tuition support for deserving families and choristers.

We are so excited to perform one of our Winter Concerts at First United Methodist Church in Pasadena on December 9 this year. The larger venue means more space for all our families and supporters! Added bonus: it's absolutely beautiful inside.

On December 10, we will perform at our home venue, Pasadena Presbyterian Church, as normal.

Enjoy this memory from Intermediate Choir's tour to San Diego back in April. While stopping for food at Leucadia Pizza, the restaurant's staff asked if LACC's choristers would sing a song to lift the spirits of one of their regular customers. What resulted was this beautiful performance of "Siyahamba," a traditional South African hymn.
