🚨Vendor highlight🚨We have a very delicious line up of food and drink vendors to keep your tastebuds dancing all day at Paxico Blues Fest! Today’s vendor highlight is showcasing Hook and Que. Come for the music stay for the fried catfish! 🤤

Here’s what they have to say:
Hook & Que is owned and operated by John & Millie McMurray and based in Topeka. We opened in May 2022 and have learned and met a lot of great friends along the way. We decided to do Fried Catfish because we love catfish and always had to drive to Kansas City for good fish. But we couldn’t just serve catfish so we threw in chicken and shrimp to round out any combo. We are a cook to order truck so your food is fresh and hot just how we like it!

🚨Paxico Blues Fest Lineup Announcement: Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal 🚨

"If James Brown and Otis Redding had a love child, it would be Josh Hoyer. The Lincoln, Nebraska, soul shouter, and his band of merry soulsters, Soul Colossal, deliver a sound so big, so funky, so wring-the-sweat-out-of-you energetic that it reaches through the speakers and shakes you until you start moving to its groove." - No Depression

We are honored to host the 2025 IBC Champions Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal!

Night after night at their live shows, Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal leave it all on the table, bringing crowds palpably authentic music. This is a real working band; music for the people, by the people. You hear the veracity in Hoyer’s voice. You hear the strife of a guitar amp being pushed to its limits. You hear keyboards hammering notes home while emboldened horns soar over the top of a rhythm section akin to a freight train. The raucous Funk and real-deal Soul emanating from the stage dutifully pays homage to the past Soul/Classic R&B giants while simultaneously charging forward, piloting themselves into the modern era.

Josh has been a contestant on NBC's The Voice and the band has toured extensively in Europe and is a favorite in Spain, playing hundreds of shows across 39 states and 9 countries over the last 10 years, including opening for George Clinton, Charles Bradley, Booker T Jones, and Muscle Shoals R***e. Releasing 6 albums to local, national and international acclaim, their latest record, “Green Light,” won Best Self Produced Album of 2022 by the International Blues Foundation.

🚨Paxico Blues Fest Lineup Annoucment: Mathias Lattin🚨

We are honored to host The Champ! Mathias Lattin won the 2023 International Blues Challenge and Best Guitarist at the tender age of 20-years old; conceivably making him the youngest to win both.

The grandson of NBA Hall of Famer, David “Big Daddy” Lattin, he displays his talent on the stage not the basketball court. He is a 2020 graduate of Houston’s acclaimed Kinder High School of Performing and Visual Arts. He began his foray into the Houston Blues scene when he was 12 years old. Jonn Del Toro Richardson invited him to attend the weekly Blues jam he hosted at The Big Easy. He garnered national attention when he joined the Keeshea Pratt Band (IBC 2018) in 2020. After touring with the Keeshea Pratt Band and joining Brazilian Bluesman Cris Crochemore for the 2022 IBC, Mathias decided to take a shot at the IBC as front man.

UP NEXT is the debut release of the emerging Texas musician. He wrote and produced the project which displays some of Lattin’s musical influences. The wealth and breadth of great music/musicians in the Houston music scene had a major impact on the 21-year-old Lattin. UP NEXT is proof that the music is alive and in capable hands.

🚨Paxico Blues Fest Headliner Announcement: Ally Venable Band🚨

“Ally is the future of blues and the crossover music of American roots-rock.” - Mike Zito.

We are honored to host the amazing Texas blues-rock singer/ songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire Ally Venable! She is rated amongst the best young artists in Blues, she’s been #1 on the Billboard Blues Charts, dueted on her songs with the iconic Buddy Guy, Shemekia Copeland, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram and Joe Bonamassa, won Total Guitar Magazine’s Top 100 Blues Guitarists, won Independent Blues Music Awards’ Road Warrior, won Guitar World Magazine Top 15 Young Guns Making the Gibson Les Paul Cool Again, and she’s bringing her talent to Paxico!

It’s hard to fathom how a 25-year-old can sing and play with such battle-scarred authority, let alone have five albums in her rear-view mirror. But there’s a simple explanation: Ally raced from childhood church choirs to revved-up first guitars and booking out bar gigs before she could order a beer. She’s never looked back.

Along with Ally’s own tour domestically and in Europe, her band has supported Buddy Guy and Kenny Wayne Shepherd and she performed as a featured artist on the Experience Hendrix Tour. Ally’s brand new combative sixth album, Money & Power, demands more of both – for herself, for women around the world, and for anyone else who thought they weren’t worthy of a seat at the table. The personnel is strictly A-list, but as always, Ally’s new songs are the real stars.“Making this album felt very therapeutic, as well as a milestone in my musical journey,” she says of the 11 originals (plus a hard-driving cover of Janet Jackson’s Black Cat). “I hope these songs allow people to see into my life in a vulnerable way and hold a strong perspective that empowers women and breaks the glass ceiling.”
