The Cannery at South Penobscot

The Cannery at South Penobscot presents contemporary experimental art with a focus on sound, music, performance, and the word.

The Cannery of South Penobscot sits in Wabanaki territory. Located just off of the Meniwoken tidal flats we straddle a stream, in the spring alive with alewives and all those it feeds. We acknowledge the living history of the Wabanaki people and that this land we stand on was stolen from them when colonization came to these shores.

The Cannery's mission is to foster art as freely

collaborative inquiry into nature, psyche and form. Our aims are to encourage exchanges with local and global communities and to explore the continua of the arts, sciences, crafts, philosophy, technology, earth practices and play.

Dear Friends,
We're needing someone to Cannery-sit something like Dec 30-Jan 25.

In case you or someone you might know could use a getaway place... self-made retreat like .. for 25 days. And if someone could use more time on either side we'd figure a way to make that workout..
Woodstove, chickens, cats, canaries and sheep are what need attention/company.

Craft and Knitting Circle(s) all day, JULY 1st,
9AM to Sundown --w/a potluck at 5pm Open to all!
at which time we also invite any who wish to, to share beginnings of a project,
doesn't have to be a craft project!..a sweater, a poem, a tune, a seed, a thought, a proposal for action...

Come by--when you can--for the day /for the potluck /to say hi /early & later /whenever
bring a project that you are working on, or find inspiration here
(limited supplies for basket weaving, spinning, sewing and knitting will be on hand)

A warm welcome to Drew Wesely & Eli Wallace in residency through July 4!

They are using this time at the Cannery to further develop their duo vocabulary and interaction through daily practice, workshopping new ideas relating to sound combinations, and employinging new strategies for constructing and informing their musical morphology.
