Question: "Do you donate your services for charity events and fundraisers?"

Answer: Yes! We do a limited number of charity events per year that we will donate our services. In order for us to donate our services though the event must be 100% non-profit, it must benefit a charity (or someone in need. For example it may an event for the Cancer Society or maybe a fundraising event for someone who either has a life-threatening illness, has been in an accident, or is suffering from some other health issue and the event is held to raise money for their medical expenses.) For other events (such as for-profit fundraisers) we will offer our services at a discounted rate.

Question: "How much should we budget for a professional wedding DJ in the Pensacola area?"

Answer: This is a question we get asked often. In our area a professional wedding DJ will cost around a thousand dollars. (Of course if you're reading this from another part of the country the rates for a professional wedding DJ may be more or less depending on the market.) Recently we had a couple of brides tell us their budget for a wedding DJ was between $400 and $500. Realistically they won't be able to find a professional wedding DJ in that price range. (In fact $500 is about the minimum you can expect to pay if you chose to rent a basic sound system with an Ipad and Spotify list.) We didn't say they couldn't find a DJ in that range, there are budget DJ's in our area that are very cheap (but you're going to get what you pay for if you choose to go that route. At best, they would give you the same service you would get if you rented a small sound system and did it yourself.)

The good news is you CAN have a nice wedding reception (and have a professional wedding DJ) even if you are on a budget! In 2022 our Entertainment Director, Stacey Noles, did a series of podcasts on wedding reception planning. Question: "I've seen a lot of other DJ services who charge an hourly rate. Why do you not charge hourly rates for weddings?"

Answer: Like a lot of other DJ services we used to charge an hourly rate. But in 2017 we decided to change that and only charge a flat rate for a couple of reasons. First, we had couples looking at our packages and thinking the number of "hours" listed for each package was all the time we put in for the wedding. (For example we had a package that was good for up to "4 performance hours.") Brides would see this and think "Wow, they charge THAT much for only 4 hours of work?" In reality that 4 hour wedding reception actually takes (on average) 15-30 hours total to make happen (when you factor in the prep work, labor, and everything else we do. Wedding day itself is easily a 12-hour day for us.) So we thought it would be better to charge a "flat rate" and make sure our brides know that also includes all the planning, prep work, labor, consultations, and everything else we do (and not just the 4 or 5 hours they "see" us at the wedding.)

Another reason is we would often have brides who would want us to stay longer because everyone was having fun (then they would have to pay overtime fees.) So we thought it would be better to charge a flat rate and they can now have us for as long as they wanted on their wedding day (which means we could technically stay until midnight without the bride having to worry about any overtime fees.) Since we started charging "by the event" (and not an "hourly" rate) we have received nothing but compliments for it.

A common question we get is "do we charge for our setup and breakdown time?" The answer is "yes" but it is already included in your rate so the price of your package will include the set up and breakdown costs as well. (In other words there are no "surprises".) The only time you would pay extra for set up and break down is if we have to set up two sound systems at two different venues (for example let's say you are having your wedding ceremony at the pavilion at Pensacola Beach and your reception at a hotel in town. There would be extra fees associated with that but we would go over all of that ahead of time.)

Did you know the DJ (or the entertainment in general) can literally "make" or "break" your wedding reception? It's true. 6 months after a wedding when guests are asked about how the reception went and what they remember most about, most will say "dancing" and "partying". They will usually rate the success of your wedding reception based on how the DJ performed.

Sure they will love the flowers, the food, the decorations, and everything else, but the one aspect they will remember the most was dancing and partying. That is why we always tell our prospective brides and grooms when you are looking to hire a DJ and Master of Ceremonies for your reception make sure you hire a professional because it can make all the difference in the world.

It looks like (at this point) what will become Tropical Storm Debby will miss our area, but it does bring up a good question we often get asked (and one we have had to deal with in the past.) "What happens if we have a tropical storm or hurricane the weekend of your wedding or other event?"

The answer to that is fairly simple. Always safety first. If we have a minimal tropical storm, there are no evacuations ordered, and your event is inside then you can probably have your event as scheduled. However, if we have a major hurricane coming our way then I think you would agree your event can't go on as scheduled. In that event we would simply reschedule your event to another date (and apply the money you paid us toward a new date.) Let's say we have major damage and you can't set a new date right away. Not a problem, we would simply give you a 'credit" for your rate and then you can use that for when you do have a new date. (We wouldn't require another retainer fee for the new date and your original rate would be applied to the new date even if our rates change.)

So you don't have to worry, if a hurricane dampens your plans we may just have to postpone things but we'll still make your event happen!

*****THANK YOU FOR 21 GREAT YEARS!!****

Today marks 21 years since SN DJ Entertainment first went into business. We officially began on August 1, 2003 and saw our very first event just a few weeks later. It was a moving in party for a very nice couple in Holt, Florida. Since that time we have hosted thousands of events from weddings, parties, school dances, to fundraising events. We just want to say "thank you" to all of our clients, past and present. Without you we wouldn't have a DJ service (and we certainly wouldn't have lasted 21 years!)

One of the questions we get asked often is "How much time do you actually spend on one wedding from start to finish?" And the answer to that is anywhere from 15-30 hours. That's starting with the first communication all the way through until we finish the bride and groom's gig log video after their reception. We spend many hours in our office planning the reception, emailing our brides back and forth, making revisions to the sequence of events, contacting other vendors, and getting the music they need. On wedding day that day alone is easily a 12 to 14 hour day that starts early in the morning and usually ends around midnight or later. The wedding reception itself may only be 4-5 hours but our work includes all the preparation before, the setting up, the breakdown, and the loading / unloading of the equipment. So yes there is a lot more that we put into a wedding than just the 4-5 hours (or how ever many hours) you actually "see" us at a wedding.

It's a lot of work but we love doing it! That's why we've been doing this for 21 years and have made thousands of brides and grooms happy!

One of the questions we see posted on social media (regarding weddings) is "Will wedding vendors charge less to host weddings on a weekday as opposed to Saturday?"

The short answer to that question is it depends. Most wedding vendors will advertise the same prices for weddings regardless of what "day" of the week it's on. BUT (like your mama always used to say) "It never hurts to ask." So if you are having a wedding any other day but Friday or Saturday then it is possible wedding vendors may knock off some of the cost if they aren't busy. They usually won't advertise this so again be sure and ask! You never know you may get a really good rate simply because the vendors want to fill more dates on their calendar. (And yes there have been times when we have given couples a discount when they've had their wedding during the week as opposed to the weekend.)
