Dear Friends, today is shaping up to be not very kind to drivers and people walking around downtown and so if you were still wanting to experience Selfie Space one last time join me tomorrow from noon to 1pm for a last hurrah. It may be cold out but at least it will be dry and warm inside Selfie Space.

The world has spoken and it does not want me to open today. Stay dry, safe, and warm my friends.

As a token of our appreciation, we invite you to join us for a final farewell experience at Selfie Space until January 12th, 2024. We would love to celebrate the moments we've shared and create a few more memories before we close our doors. You can walk-in during open hours or book online through the 12th.

Your enthusiasm for our unique concept and your willingness to capture the joyous moments of your lives have fueled our passion for providing a creative space like no other. Selfie Space has truly been a labor of love, and your support has been the driving force behind its success.

While we are sad to say goodbye, we want to express our deepest gratitude for the joy and warmth you have brought to our small business. Thank you for being a part of the Selfie Space family and for making our journey so remarkable.

I just want you to know and confirm two of the coolest people in Peoria that honestly have your best interest in mind and have a business built out of it, helping you plan how to be secure financially for your life and your family. They make it easy and not something for the ultra wealthy to obtain. You can too! I just sat in a planning session for women and was grateful for the practical advice and reminders we all need. Especially making transitions and making room for when things change.

This is the season for reflection and gratitude as we approach Thanksgiving. I think back on the last year and wouldn't trade it for the world. While starting a business comes with its ups and downs, I've met over a thousand people who have come through my doors. I am so thankful for each and every person who wanted to spend time at Selfie Space and their smiles are my reward. When I say my heart grows bigger with each smile, I mean it! Currently while I write this there is a mentally disturbed person yelling at the air on the street outside my door. No one approached him or has said anything to him. He is just there having an argument with his own imagination and very angry. Sometimes we don't get to pick our circumstances. They happen to us. My father developed paranoid scitzophrenia in his 20's so I understand the mental episodes and what that may look like. This City of Peoria opened its arms for the homeless, depressed, and poor. That is not something that should be feared, but embraced as a service to humanity. The kindness of this City to shelter, provide services for the poor and weary, are a blessing. We may not always appreciate the panhandling, associated crime, and nusiances to our lifestyle that comes with it, but this is a charitable city however you want to argue that.
I'm also thankful to Commerce Bank for giving myself a chance to start a business and transform one of their downtown locations into a destination for women and their families. I've always had an eye for making transformations and doing the hard work with a dynamic problem solving and get-it-done attitude. I enjoy a good challenge and Commerce believes in me. I hope you do too! I've been weighing next steps. With continued perservenace and not for a lack of trying, there will be retail operations in this location downtown. It starts small and we will see how it goes. I continue in good faith with services and I'd like to think that the retail operations will provide sustanence in an area considered a food desert. I don't know how people continue to afford to go out to eat or pay for food delivery. I started an entertainment business downtown that's not seen the level of business needed to continue operations. This has been incredibly difficult to carry on, so the hope is that providing necessities will help to bolster the entertainment side. Young and old women alike, even men, and kids of all ages have stepped into my doors for fun with friends and to meet people. I'd like to keep that going and each day look for how I can continue to bring dreamy smiles, a little whismy, and without any ostentatiousness. Be your selfie! :D

Your power in word of mouth is what keeps small business alive and don't forget it!
You know what boggles my mind?! When a small woman-veteran business opens it's doors for women and children and its business is not recognized by the greater community that it is serving.
You've got that right. Most people in Peoria do not even know I am here!!!!! Share and support small business becuase more should know there are people who start business with a big heart for the community it serves. Shout out to all the small women owned businesses in the Greater Peoria area. It's no joke when people pour themselves into ventures.

I love interacting with folks downtown. My very nice mail man walked by and introduced himself. I told him what a great place this is for women and his response was that his now 20-something daughters take their selfies in the club these days. I remember the club! Yikes! If you don't feel like being groped and hit on all night, by drunk strangers come to Selfie Space with your lady friends for a fun night in a place for women by women! I can promise there is dancing and we turn the music up!
