At Music Suite 408, the goal of arts education is ultimately expressed in the comprehensive enjoyment of the arts. Our teaching methods stress a strong foundation and traditional understanding of the arts with an emphasis on expressive ability. Students of all levels and backgrounds learn at a level of instruction that encourages them to perfect current level projects and to welcome new challenges as they gain confidence and expertise. Music Suite 408 instructors impart a variety of practical strategies that ensure confidence, relieve anxiety and enhance proficiency.

2022: 10th Anniversary with 26 full/part time educators, 500 students of all ages and ability levels (adults too), a 3000 sq ft music space with teaching studios, Paintbox Art Gallery, Music Suite Annex and the multipurpose 2200 sq ft Westclox Fine Arts Factory for events and rental. We are also a proud affiliate of the Music Shoppe of Normal for instrument rentals.

Fly tying club will meet on Saturdays 1-3pm in January & February in the Music Suite 408 Paintbox Gallery in the west wing of the historic Westclox building. $5 per meeting. $10 Annual Facility Use Fee for the 2024-2025 academic year. Must have your own vice, head cement (or clear nail polish) & tying tools. Most materials provided for weekly tying projects. Contact John Gillio for info 815/343-6074.

Yay! We welcome Melanie Castillo, oboe instructor. She will be available on Saturdays. Call to enroll 815/223-4408.

Originally from Marseilles, Illinois, Melanie Castillo is a student at Illinois State University working toward a degree in Music Education. While at college, she has performed with the ISU Symphonic Winds, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Orchestra. She currently studies oboe under the direction of Dr. Jillian Kouzel. Melanie graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 2021 and is expected to graduate from ISU in May 2025. She looks forward to pursuing a career in K-12 Music Education. In her free time she enjoys playing with her cats and making reeds.

Music Suite 408 is excited to welcome Elliot Butler, cellist and composer. He is currently taking students on Thursdays. Call 815/223-4408.

Elliot Butler is a composer and cellist based out of Bloomington, IL. As a student in High School, Elliot studied cello at Music Suite 408 with Delle Vercimak, and played principal cello with the Illinois Valley Youth Orchestra for the 2015-2017 seasons, winning the IVYSO's concerto competition in 2017. After graduating from High School, Elliot went on to continue studying cello at Western Illinois University under the direction of Dr. Moises Molina, Dr. Ghyas Zeidieh, and Dr. Kenny Lee. After graduating from WIU with Honors in Music Theory and Composition, Elliot received his Master's degree in Music Compositon from Illinois State University, where he played cello in the University Orchestra for two years. As a composer, Elliot has had multiple works played across the world, including the United Kingdom and Ukraine. Elliot's most recent orchestral composition was performed by the Illinos Valley Symphony Orchestra in November of 2023.
