The Peterborough Players is a professional theatre company that produces 9 plays in the Summer, 3 in the Winter and plays host to screenings of the Metropolitan Opera, London's National Theatre and the Bolshoi Ballet among other events.

February is Black History Month, and we'll be celebrating the incredible black playwrights who have helped change the landscape of American Theatre. Starting off strong with Alice Childress. A novelist, playwright, and actress, her theatre work focused on telling the stories of "ordinary" people, because she believed they were not ordinary. She believed that every human being is uniquely different.

Next Saturday, January 25th join the Players at 12:30pm for Verdi's Aida from the Met Opera Live in HD. This spectacular new production stars soprano Angel Blue as Aida alongside tenor Piotr Beczala, mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi, and baritone Quinn Kelsey. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts, and Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer directs this new production of the much-loved opera. Inspired by French archaeologist Auguste Mariette, who provided the scenario that Verdi and his librettist adapted into Aida, Mayer frames his new production around a group of early 20th-century Egyptologists.
