Hi Friends:

We’re strongly considering Ragtime for the musical next year and our 150th anniversary but before we can decide, we need to know that we’ll have enough involved in the ensemble to create a convincing town of New Rochelle. in particular, we need 4 more community men and 4 more community women, ideally aged between 25 and 60. If you’ve sung in choir and/or been on stage, you would likely be right at home. If you’ve ever seen a Bay View production (ahem, Fiddler), you know that with the addition of our Conservatory students, it will be on par with most touring Broadway companies in terms of singing. It’s a real trip to sing on stage with them, and while it is an intense 3 week period from last week in June through second week in July, it is mostly weeknights, and nothing on the Fourth of July. Plus, Ragtime is one of the great American theater pieces that speaks to so many generations and walks of life, and is timely and relevant.

I’ve already had two new gents say it’s on their bucket list to be in a Broadway show so have you ever dreamed of the same? There are roles from large to small, playing a grandpa, a firemen, JP Morgan, Henry Ford or more!

Almost done, but going out with a bang! Tonight is the powerful Bay View Chamber Brass at 8pm, with 20 brass on stage together ringing through the rafters. Tomorrow/Sunday is the final vesper concert with American Spiritual Intensive Choir joining the festival choir, and for a bonus, next Wednesday August 14, come hear Tony’s new album of compositions, played by Casey Robards and sung by Kenneth Overton. Limited free seating in Evelyn Hall for Aug. 14! No tickets.

COTTAGE CONCERT TIME CHANGE!!!
Please excuse the inconvenience, but we moved the cottage concert tomorrow, August 1 to 4 p.m. at Squirrel’s Nest cottage, not 7 pm as originally planned. This will hopefully mean that you can attend the brass cottage concert as well as the Henderson lecture tomorrow night. The concert features not one but two brass quintets so you’ll be in for a treat.

Tomorrow night will be BEAUTIFUL in Bay View with The Accidentals on the lawn at the speaker stand where Bay View started 149 years ago. Bring a lawn chair, bring a picnic, just leave the alcohol at home. Box office opens at 7, seating area opens at 7:15, opening artist Joy Clark at 7:50pm, and the Accidentals go on around 8:20pm.
