Artists, today is your FINAL chance to submit your work for the Black Art Matters 2025 exhibition at the Mt. Airy Art Garage! This annual showcase honors Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month, celebrating the stories, triumphs, and creativity of Philadelphia’s dynamic African American community.

🖼️ Exhibition Dates: January 29 – February 28, 2025
📍 Location: MAAG Gallery, 7054 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA

🔔 Submission Deadline: TODAY!

Submission Details:

√ Up to 2 pieces of original artwork (all mediums welcome!)
√ $20 entry fee for members / $25 for non-members
√ Artwork must reflect the theme and be ready to display
√ Submit your artist statement/bio, MAAG submission form, and artwork images (300 dpi JPG)

Our Black Art Matters exhibition is an annual celebration of African American culture that showcases the art, history, and stories that shape Philadelphia’s dynamic community. From struggles to triumphs, the exhibition captures the essence of resilience and creativity, offering a platform for Black artists to share their voices, visions, and artistry.

We're still accepting submissions from artists who want to participate in our event! Whether it’s through painting, sculpture, photography, or mixed media, this is your chance to experience and be part of the power of Black expression.

Our submission deadline has been extended!

We're excited to announce that we've extended the artist submission deadline for the Black Art Matters 2025 exhibition, our showcase that honors Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy and celebrates Black History Month with art that highlights the struggles, triumphs, and successes of the African American community.

✨ What You Need to Know:

🎨 Submit up to 2 pieces of artwork for display and sale.
All mediums welcome! 2-D pieces must be framed with wire hangers; 3-D works may require pedestals.
Submissions fees: $20/piece for MAAG members | $25/piece for non-members
Theme-aligned, original artwork only
MAAG will process all sales (35% commission).

Our Holiday Art Market is in full swing! Come by to see the lovely work that local artists Gerald Alston, Rachelle Aquilla, Buddertool LLC (Michael Bonitatibus), and Melvin Chappell have brought.

Getting gifts at our holiday a great way to support artists in the community while also checking off a couple people from your shopping list. Whether you’re browsing for hangable art to brighten up someone’s home, or wearable art such as handcrafted jewelry, there’s something for everyone. You’ll also find functional art like beautifully designed ceramics and artistic kitchenware.

We'll be here until 6 pm tonight and we'll be back tomorrow 12 pm - 5 pm. Our website has a full of artists in attendance.
