☀️Introducing our 2nd guest DJ for this Sunday’s “A Day in the Sun for A Friend, A Benefit for Lorin Savadove”, WHEY COOLER!💿

Whey Cooler started the group Pretty Poison with Jade Starling in the early 80s.
They quickly became fixtures in the underground music scene and soon were considered one of Philly’s premier underground bands.
But with Philly’s ever changing club scene and a desire to play live more often, Pretty Poison ubruptly shifted gears and began creating Dance / RnB / Pop.
This would prove to be vastly more successful and they would go on to have several international hits with songs like Nightime, Catch Me I’m Falling and When I Look Into Your Eyes on Virgin Records.
Unfortunately, the relationship with their label eventually soured leaving Whey and Jade disillusioned.

As the early 90s began to take hold, they formed a new group called “Sex in Violets” which was described by one critic as Hole meets Sound Garden.
SIV was gaining in popularity w/ a college tour featuring some dates opening for Helmet, but after turning down a series of independent labels in hopes of securing another major label deal, it became harder and harder to keep a rhythm section so SIV disbanded.

In 1996, a group of investors offered Whey the opportunity to run his own label Chemikal/Svengali which focused on House and Techno. This also included a return to performing with Pretty Poison.
This too proved fleeting as the investors became impatient with the pace of releases and decided to end the endeavor.
Opportunity came knocking again as a Concert Producer from California started producing a series of shows under the name Freestyle Explosion.

Most recently Pretty Poison has been working with a local independent label experienced a series of club and Beatport hits w/ Better and Better, Fired Up, So Alive, Crazy, Place In the Sun, and Nightime 40. On July 5th Pretty Poison is set to release its highly anticipated “8Days” single on Tazmania Records.
Whey will be debuting his DJing at the event this Sunday!

Tickets available at the link in bio on eventbrite. The event is now indoors, from 3-9 PM. We hope to see you there!✨☀️
