Another tip we tell our brides is to always have inspiration pictures! Pictures can really help our team because everyone may not have the same knowledge or be able to articulate the specific style they prefer. When you're emailing, inquiring, or coming to a fitting, make sure to bring a few photos of inspiration that you've collected. One of the many tips we can give to someone planning a wedding is to make it your own - incorporate your personality into everything you're doing. With us, you can get really creative with your dress and make it unique. Add a belt, add some sleeves, take off some sleeves, maybe get a matching cathedral length veil? It's all up to you!

Some of our Frequently Asked Questions Part 2:

Q.  How long will my alterations take?
A.  We work on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner you can set up your first fitting, the better. Generally, we encourage you to visit us no later than twelve weeks before your wedding for your first fitting. If given fewer than six weeks to complete your dress, a rush charge will be included.

Q.  What if I gain or lose weight before my wedding?
A.  It is best to maintain your current shape and size from your first fitting through pickup. However, we are aware that the stress of event planning can contribute to weight fluctuation. Your final fitting will typically be one month prior to your wedding, and minor adjustments can still be made at that time.

Q.  Can I bring a shoe of a similar height?
A.  In order to ensure proper hem height, it is important to have the exact shoes you plan to wear for your event at each of your fittings.

Q.  How much will my alterations cost?
A.  Each dress is unique. A price for services will be issued at your first fitting. No quotes are given over the phone or online.

Generally alterations run between $350 and $700 based on what is needed to achieve the perfect fit for you. We do not have a minimum charge and you are only charged for what you need. "Courtney’s work is pure magic.

Her ability to alter a dress to better fit and flatter a body is absolutely incredible. Not only is she remarkably skilled, she is also kind, generous, funny and clear about what is possible and what isn’t. She will give it to you straight, but in a respectful and loving way. She is a master at giving her professional opinion in a way that is helpful, but not at all pushy, and managing the personalities in the room in order to center your voice and opinion.

I went in to see Courtney for the first time in March 2020, just a few days before the world shut down and we all went into lockdown. My dress didn’t need much — a hemming and replacing of the buttons and button loops in the back of my dress. Courtney was great at communicating with me as my wedding was postponed from June 2020 to June 2021. When I went in to see her a year later, our world had changed and so had I. When I tried on my dress, I no longer felt comfortable or confident in my dress and so I embarked on a journey to find a new dress, literally THREE WEEKS before my wedding. …
I am so utterly thankful to have been able to work with Courtney. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have such an incredible seamstress on my side for my wedding. She is an incredible small business owner who knows what she is doing and is in demand because of it. Her labor is worth every damn cent and I wholeheartedly recommend her and her team. "Real talk: my dress was wayyyy too big when it first arrived. I couldn't have walked down the aisle in it if my life had depended on it. I'm pretty sure Courtney had to take apart more seams on this dress than she left alone, but oh did she work a miracle (four fittings later!)! My dress is a crepe Theia sheath with an illusion back, and she made it fit perfectly! Courtney is so down to earth and easy to talk to and honestly, I miss our once-monthly fittings. I'm so happy for her new studio space and can't wait to see her business continue to grow - I am so happy I reached out to Courtney (at the referral of both BHLDN and Lovely Bride Philly, who graciously helped me find an alterer even though I bought my dress in another state!). Definitely one of my vendor team VIPs. Strongly recommend reaching out to her before anyone else to take care of your alterations. I cannot say enough good things about her. I felt so confident on my wedding day and got a million complements on my dress. I'll say it -- I feel bad for you if you're using anyone else for your wedding dress alterations!
Final note: My bustle looked amazing and didn't break even though the crepe fabric was super heavy. You owe it to yourself to invest in a good alterer who can make your bustle look artistic and not like an afterthought, and who makes it strong enough to last through a night of dancing.
Advice: reach out to Courtney early! If you're like me and clueless, you might not know that September through October is super busy for weddings. If your date is somewhere around there, start on alterations sooner rather than later. (My date was March so it didn't impact me, but wanted to share the feedback just in case it helps another bride!)" - Erin L.

With COVID protocols changing in Philadelphia, we've been asked about our own protocols and if they have changed. As of now and the foreseeable future, they are not changing. Our protocol is as follows:

Please come to your FIRST FITTING on your own. You may bring one guest to your FINAL FITTING. The final fitting will be the fitting closest to your wedding date.

You must wear a KN95 or N95 mask to enter my studio and must keep it on at all times. I will also be wearing a mask.

When you enter the studio, please remove your shoes and take all of your belongings with you into the fitting area.

Please be timely. To minimize cross over traffic, please do not come early or late.

We will ask to see your vaccination card.

"By the time I came to see Courtney I had already seen another seamstress in Philadelphia and I was extremely unhappy and anxiety ridden about the state of my dress and whether or not alterations were even going to be possible to get my dress where it needed to be. Courtney immediately eased my concerns and made me feel heard and comfortable. She understood exactly what needed to be done to my dress and assured me they would be able to do the alterations. When I brought her my dress it was at least 3-4 sizes too big and the entire neckline needed to be redone. Every fitting my dress got closer and closer to how I dreamed it would be and I could not have been happier with the final product. I'm so happy I decided to use Prim and Perverse for my alterations!
