Okay, it's time for the confessional. This weekend, many years ago, would have marked the start of holiday decorating for many commercial establishments. I was very proud to be selected to design some of the most elegant spaces in Philadelphia. Thanksgiving dinner was always filled with anxiety. How was everything going to fit in the trucks? It never failed; we always had large weddings to deal with as well. To this day, I just watch my family put up the tree and garlands from my perch on the living room sofa. I dislike holiday decoration!

The background of this statement is that you start designing the decor in early July when it’s 90 degrees outside. The vision of gold ornaments and ribbons becomes overwhelming. If you walk around our workroom today, you’ll see the nails where we hung the completed wreaths and garlands. It's not just gluing on ornaments; each piece has to be cleaned to get rid of dust. And I can't forget the trips to wherever the decorations are being stored by the client—most likely a storage facility in South Philadelphia. Not fancy.

The reason I am confessing this is to give a shout-out to all those workers who are spending long hours making the city beautiful! Thank you.

The good news is that it comes down faster than it goes up. But I won’t forget the phone calls saying that a light is out on one of the banquet trees while you’re in Bucks County. In you go, only to find that they just needed to plug it in!
I love my industry and what it has offered me for over 40 years. I love designing events and my clients.
Maybe my next post will be about doing the flower show for 18 years.

What a great Thanksgiving week. This was the first time in 47 years we did not have dinner at home. As everyone knows me this is a big holiday in cooking and decor at our home. Thank goodness it was a great success. The boys enjoyed the wide open landscape and of course the food and Ambiance. We went on a thanksgiving hike in the mountains. I think they were trying to kill me. All up hill. Kar and I took Jonathan to his first tea. He liked the tea but not excited about the tea sandwich's and scones. Alittle small. Thanksgiving dinner was so special and delicious!! The Inn went all out as usual especially for the boys. It was so special having the time with our family. Many blessings.

About last night. What a great night celebrating the capital campaign launch for Villanova University. Thank you for having us!!!!
I have been on the sofa and watching repeats of Ina and noshing on Garces trail mix from last night. I have to confess I have eaten 4 boxes of it. So delicious!!! Once I get up I will post the video that our social media manager has created. If it was up to me u would never see it.
