I am excited to share my latest artwork, “Whispers in the Grain.” This 12 x 5 piece is an acrylic painting on native wood from Valparaiso, Chile. During my time in Valparaiso, I came across a local who had chopped some pieces of wood. Staring at the wood, I saw faces within the grain and asked for some slabs. The very essence of the face seemed to already be embedded in the wood; I simply made it more visible.

The painting features a vividly detailed portrait of a woman’s face, rendered with rich, naturalistic colors. Her expressive eyes and pronounced lips, along with intricate detailing around her eyes and mouth, bring depth and emotion to the piece. The organic texture and natural imperfections of the wood, like cracks and grains, add a unique character to the artwork. The subject’s adornments are suggested by vibrant yellow and red hints along the edge of the face, resembling decorative elements or jewelry.

Creating this artwork was a unique experience given the medium and the spontaneous inspiration drawn from the natural wood. The spirit of the face already existed within the wood, and I had the privilege of bringing it to life.

Dreams in Color-Realization. A tapestry of visions and whispers of affirmations. A young soul, bathed in a dance of light and shadow, gazes with wonder at the infinite, and to the hills from which comes his help.

Each stroke of vibrant hues, reds, blues, and yellows, swirls around a serene visage, creating a dazzling sanctuary of affirmation and spiritual covering.

Inspired by the sacred verses of Psalm 121:1-2, Psalm 91, and the prophetic promise of Jeremiah 29:11, alongside the dreamer Joseph’s journey in Genesis, my creation speaks of divine dreams and cosmic pathways. This artwork is a portal, invoking the celestial and the earthly realms in harmonious interplay.

The process, a confluence of sacred text and vivid color, unearths a realm where contemplation meets realization.

I’m excited to share one of my favorite pieces I created entitled, “Amiracle”. This piece is a 48 x 60 acrylic on canvas painting that captures a young child in a multicolored hoodie, engrossed in an activity with their hands. The child’s hair is styled naturally, and their expression conveys a deep sense of concentration and introspection.

The background comes alive with a dynamic blend of bright and vibrant colors like blue, yellow, orange, and pink, creating a lively atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the peaceful and focused mood of the child.

“Amiracle” is part of the Dreams in Color Series. It was inspired by the story of Joseph in the Bible. Much like Joseph, this piece reflects the themes of isolation, overcoming snares of the Fowler, and the importance of diving deeper within oneself to persevere through trials.

Creating this artwork was a unique journey, especially with its rich back story, its thoughtfully composed content, and the character it portrays. The process was both challenging and rewarding, and I hope the finished piece resonates with the same sense of introspection and determination that it aims to capture. -His Coat has many Colors-
