Another reason for kids to be off tablets and computers. About a month ago, I asked my kindergartners a question from a stack of cards for class team-building. The question on the card was: “ I’d you had more time to do anything, what would it be, and why?” Nearly every student replied. The answer from 80% of the class was “More gaming or computer time, because it’s cool, it’s awesome,” etc. My classroom aide and I were shocked. It broke my heart, honestly. No mention of spending more time with family, playing outside, riding bikes, playing baseball, etc.
This is our new, sad reality. Our kids’ brains are changing. There are studies proving that the gaming is messing up their brain development and their neurons.
I really hope to see a shift towards kids, getting outside again, involved in sports more, etc. The lockdowns just magnified this problem, and we are seeing way more behavior problems and outbursts than we ever have, in our schools.
17-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR EXPLOITING CHILDREN ON ROBLOX
Yesterday, Christian Scribben (W/M, DOB: 11/14/2007) was direct filed into the Marion County Jail for Directing a Sexual Performance by a Child, Utilizing a Computer to Solicit a Child while Misrepresenting Age, and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device.
On February 28, 2025, MCSO received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that a user in Marion County was directing children to mo**st their younger siblings and produce child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on the video game Roblox. Through Major Crimes Detective Henrik Osthed’s investigation, he learned that Scribben was responsible for the vile messages. He then obtained a search warrant for Scribben’s residence, located at 1910 NW 40th Avenue Road, in Ocala. On April 16, 2025, the Ocala Police Department SWAT Team assisted with the ex*****on of the search warrant, and several of Scribben’s devices were collected for further digital forensic examination.
While executing the search warrant, Detective Osthed interviewed Scribben about his activity on Roblox. Scribben provided user information, which confirmed he was the owner of the account referenced in the NCMEC tip. Throughout the interview, Scribben admitted to proactively searching for children on Roblox daily, whom he would instruct to engage in sexual activity with their siblings and create CSAM. After establishing a connection on Roblox, he would move the conversation to either Discord or text messaging. Scribben advised that most of the CSAM he demanded was used for sexual gratification. However, in one specific instance, he just wanted proof that the sexual abuse was actually occurring as he directed. Scribben went on to admit that he would misrepresent his age to appear more “acceptable” to young children, and that he has done this to four or five children a day, every day for the past year. Further investigation to identify the victims in this case is ongoing.
Scribben was originally placed under arrest on April 16, 2025, and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). He has now been direct filed into the Marion County Jail, where he is held without bond.
Due to the disturbing nature of these crimes and the evidence gathered throughout the investigation, detectives believe there may be other victims. If you have any information, please contact Detective Osthed at (352) 351-4710.
