👇🏼🔊ICYMI: Sen. Wyden visit update🔊👇🏼

PHS families,
The town hall portion of U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden’s visit to Phoenix High School today has been canceled, but Sen. Wyden will move forward with plans to answer questions from PHS students in a closed-campus “Listening to the Future” session.
Sen. Wyden had been scheduled to answer questions from the public in a town hall meeting similar to his April, 2023 appearance at PHS, but the Phoenix-Talent School District has decided to cancel that part of the program after learning that disruptions were likely. In order to preserve this educational opportunity for our students, the campus will be closed to the general public.
Students from Phoenix High’s leadership and social studies classes will still have the opportunity to ask questions of Sen. Wyden. Additionally, PHS social studies teacher John Cornet will serve as the moderator, PTS school board chair Michael Campbell will speak, PHS leadership students will lead everybody in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance and an instrumental duet will play the Star Spangled Banner.
For more information, please contact PTS assistant superintendent Tiffanie Lambert at [email protected].

🧑🏼‍🚒Future firefighters?🧑🏼‍🚒

Our Emergency Services students today were visited by firefighters from Jackson County Fire Dist. 5 who shared about what possible firefighter career paths, pros and cons of the job and what it takes to do the job. Then, they took our students out back to try on some of the gear.

Tomorrow, our students will walk over to the new fire station in Phoenix, take a tour and rotate through stations that include hoses and fire streams, ladders and an SCBA drill. Check back tomorrow to see how that went.

Thank you, Fire District 5!
