That is a quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt. On March 24th in Scottsdale, Arizona Athena Valley of the Sun will honor some incredible women who are Illuminating! change on both a local and national level. This is a celebration of not just our award recipients but all women starting with our Young Athenas. The net proceeds from this event go to fund the Young Athenas.
Students are constantly surrounded by the pressures of school work, extracurricular activities, and social life. These stresses can be amplified during times of crisis in our country- like when there's a pandemic. The psychological effects of these events on students are just as important to address as the physical ones that manifest themselves in more obvious ways. AVOS provides a unique opportunity with the Young Athena program where high school and college young women can develop leadership skills under guidance from professionals who volunteer time without compensation - it's exactly what they need!
