Built in 1947, Rimrock Ranch began as the first homestead in the beautiful Rimrock area above Yucca Valley and below Big Bear Lake. A few cabins sprouted up shortly after that, built to house the stars and directors of dozens of cowboy movies filming in nearby Pioneertown during the 50′s. Rimrock is a year-round destination (uniquely located 4,500 feet above sea level just at the snow line), offer
ing four distinct and gorgeous seasons. Our summers are 15-20 degrees cooler than nearby Joshua Tree National Park. Rimrock’s four cabins are a cozy, eclectic mix of lodge style & antiques. All feature original knotty pine paneling, and artisan laid tile floors. Fully equipped kitchens, shower bathrooms stocked with soaps, shampoos & big towels, and a private patio with outdoor fireplace ensure your comfort and ease. Bring vittles and snacks for the fridge and you’ll never want to leave. Sunsets and stars viewed from our Giant Timber Observation Deck bring peace to jangled city nerves. Rekindle the lost art of conversation around a rock lined campfire pit. Or just hang out by the mineral water swimming pool. For you active types, abundant bouldering, hiking & biking trails are just outside the door; explorers of a different nature will delight in the endlessly quirky local sites and scenes that can’t be found in any guidebook.

Thank you • A brief note of thanks this week to our wedding couples, vendors and priceless Rimrock Staff that made this year, but especially this fall season possible. Many of you know, but Gwen had a nasty dirtbike accident that made her unable to work, and Eric was spread thin with hosting and caretaking. The patience and understanding of our clients, flexibility of our vendor friends, and resilience of our unmatched staff members made this season possible. We also want to communicate our deep gratitude for our community helping us with our animals and supporting our spirits. Thank you to each and every one of you. We are heavy and broken hearted to say farewell to Black Dog today 😞At about 8:40am, Black Dog of Rimrock had the most dignified send off you could have imagined. It was peaceful and sweet. Rimrock Neighbors served as perfect “pawbearers”, laying him to rest in a rustic, wooden trunk wrapped in a serape.
He is now guarding us at the perimeter from coyotes from his position by the shack. I am told a couple hawks flew over in tribute, and later the desert sighed with rain.
We are heartbroken and processing but calm at heart knowing he kept his dignity to the end.
We welcome any story tributes and fav pictures you have. This special dog deserves all the celebration.
We will miss you eternally, BD. Chase all the coyotes. Catch all the rabbits. 🖤

Everything abouty Jillian and Marty is bold, colorful, sweet and dramatic and their wedding was no exception. Jillian and Marty read their beautiful and heartfelt vows to each other as a storm rolled across the high desert and their guests made good use of the provided umbrellas! An outfit change later and the party got under way with tacos, wood-fired pizza and an amazing converted VW campervan as a photobooth. Marty gave an intimate performance of one of his own songs during the reception, just him and his acoustic guitar with Jillian and their friends and family huddled around. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal, Jillian, Marty and all their guests pressed on and celebrated the wedding with irrepressible zeal.
