I only shot a few photos at this wedding of Reese and Hayden. I was too busy eating corn dogs. :D Just kidding, they actually hired a photographer, but I still needed to capture a few photos for myself and them. It was hot. It was our last wedding before our summer "break" and it definitely felt like it. But that didn't dampen any spirits on that night! It was a great way to end the season. Check out that corn dog stand! HAHA

It's time to share a few photos from my little sister's wedding. I finally got these done and to her so I can share them here now. I'll put a link in the comments for anyone looking for photos. It was a great time had by all. From the premature cork pop on the champagne first thing in the morning to the final photo of the last ones standing, it was a lot of fun. We got to see family we haven't seen in quite some time because well, time slips away really quickly. But it really was nice getting to spend some time with everyone. My dad finally got his first dance with his daughter and that made it extra special. Neli and Dylan provided the tunes and they're ALWAYS a good time. Katy at Simply Southern catered and made Festival Pasta that we're still talking about. What a weekend..

Spring wedding season 2024 has come to a close. And we did it in a huge way. I can’t wait to see the photos from this one. I did take a few for myself but not very many.

Reese and Hayden had their wedding last night. It was a very long, late night which is why I’m just now getting g to this post. There have been quite a few naps throughout the day. And man they have been needed.

So when Reese said they wanted to do a Vegas themed Elvis kind of wedding complete with a corn dog/funnel cake truck for food, you could say we were a bit excited. This girl never does anything small. 😆 And that proved to be true when that corn dog truck rolled in. Oofta that thing was HUGE!

We started setup on Thursday and of course as always, worked right up to wedding time. And it. was. ridiculous. Hanging fringe. Disco balls. Elvis memorabilia. And of course you already know about the Booths Classy Cruisers pink Cadillac! Somehow we all pulled it off and it was not the comfortable, south Louisiana June out there.

We had a fabulous weekend with these guys. Fantastic memories were made. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Smith!

Photos to come soon! I’ve already seen a few sneak peeks so they’re gonna be great!

Facebook is crazy. We now have over 6,000 followers, (which in itself is crazy since we’re just a little venue out here in the middle of nowhere) but they have really throttled our reach. I’m guessing they’re trying to squeeze money out of people to “boost” their posts. That said, I’m going to keep posting anyway.

New question for everyone out there. Not just the people who got married out here. I want to hear from all of you.

Weddings are stressful. It’s a lot of planning and preparation and anxiety leading up to a big culmination of emotions and release. What was the thing you worried about MOST on your wedding day, the thing you stressed over THE MOST which ended up not being a big deal at all? That thing you look back on and say “man, I can’t believe I was so worried about that.”

Let’s hear em!

Man it’s been slow around here lately. This economy has got to turn around some time soon. While we wait for that, if you happen to see this post, tell me what the favorite part of your wedding day was. Even if you got married 30 years ago or somewhere else. Brides, grooms…moms, dads, all of y’all. Tell me what your favorite thing about your day was.

I got Brittany and Brady's photos done. I knew they were going to be good when I shot them. The way these two looked at, spoke to and acted around one another just made them a joy to be around. It makes photography easy. I'm not even sure if they knew I was there half the time. ;)

I'll put the link in the comments for anyone who might have attended and wants some of the photos. Enjoy.

Welp today was one of those special days that doesn’t come along too often. We got to host my little sister’s wedding. Not only that, I got to officiate my first and only wedding here at the Chateau. And I’ve never seen my sister happier.

We weren’t sure if they were gonna be able to get married out in the meadow because if you’re anywhere near here, you know it’s been raining for weeks now. And we thought the rain was gonna force us to do another barn wedding for the spring season. But…as the rain moved closer, it continued to just fall apart. And it did that right up until wedding time. It was amazing.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Monypenny. Welcome to the family Chris!

Boy howdy it was a hot one today. CeeJay and I had to pull this one off by ourselves and man we can feel it laying here in bed. By wedding time we were both already wiped out. But that’s about the time you suck it up, find that second (or third…maybe fourth) wind and keep on trucking.

Apart from the heat and humidity, it was a brilliantly beautiful day. I can’t wait to see how the photos turned out because that light was perfect right at wedding time.

Brittany and Brady got married today. We certainly love all of our couples but sometimes there’s just that little something you can see between them that just makes it ever so special. And then you throw the awesomely fun kids in the mix and it just puts the icing on the cake. Their parents, their friends, the rest of their families…just all great, enjoyable people. And then with Brad and Charity playing the music, there’s just no way to go wrong. We really had a great time this weekend.

We can’t wait to watch Brittany and Brady’s journey together. Their story is already one of perseverance and fortitude. I know there’s nothing they won’t be able to conquer.

Did you know?

If you book your wedding out here, a bridal portrait session is included. Some couples have even decided to come back together with their wedding attire and do a couple's shoot. Some bring props. Some have locations they want to have their bridals done. We will travel to those spots!

Are bridal portraits important? Well, it depends on the person, really. But what it does is it gives you an opportunity to try out your hair style and your makeup for the actual wedding day. It also gives you more time to actually WEAR the beautiful dress you've bought instead of for just a few hours on your wedding day, and then you have a lifetime of photos that you'll get to look at and show people for decades to come.

And, well, they're my favorite thing to do. ; )

It's FRIDAY fam. It's also mid May and I would feel remiss if I didn't let everyone know we have several fall dates still available. I'm not sure if everyone just assumes we're already booked at this late date or if the economy has just got everyone worried, but we have ONE November date left and THREE October dates. Which is just crazy. October is amazing out here. Anyway, if you or anyone you know is looking, reach out. Let's get those dates booked because I hate looking out there on a beautiful fall day and seeing it empty.

Another late night. I just finished up my barbecue dinner so I’ve got to stay up a little longer because heartburn. Hey I’m old.

Krista and Eric booked their wedding a few short months ago. We hooked them up with the best possible time we could. It’s been raining for DAYS. I think we’ve had over 5” since last weekend. The flooding all around has been pretty crazy. We reeeally wanted these two to have their wedding outside in the meadow. And when we got up we were sure it would happen. Then as the day progressed we started to doubt. The sky grew dark several times. The ground did dry up quite a bit but any little bit of rain would make it too soggy. People who were arriving were telling us it was raining in different areas they came from. But guess what. It didn’t rain!

So we had an absolutely gorgeous ceremony out in the field with a little bit of sunshine and just perfect lighting.

I just dropped my phone on my face while trying to type this out so I’m just gonna say congratulations Mr and Mrs Cormier. We can’t wait to watch your journey together. Good night everyone!

We’ve had a little time to process all that happened during Stephanie and Loren’s wedding on Saturday. I’m going to attempt to summarize, because if I wrote every detail that burned into my memory that night, this would be the longest post ever. It probably already is.

One thing I tell ALL of our couples, they absolutely will have a story to tell when they leave here as a married couple. You just can never predict what it will be.

It began like always…rehearsal on Friday where we got to meet everyone and really start feeling this group and seeing how wedding day would play out. Awesome friends and family coming together for their people. We knew it would be a good one. We’ve gotten good at predicting that.

Saturday started out a wonderful, sleepy, slow morning with breakfast and mimosas with some wonderful girls supporting their bride. As we got down to the barn getting everything set up, putting out decor and linens and all of our normal wedding day to do, I continued to check the forecast. I was getting conflicting information as some places said rain starting right at wedding time, others saying it would start later after the wedding. As the day wore on and we were getting close to being done with set up, we made the decision to go with our plan B setup as it just seemed like we might be cutting it too close. So we started over. Which I’m not going to lie…it adds a lot of stress. But we were able to pull it off. Powered Productions Mobile DJ Service LLC showed up and Christian is always a good time so he added some much needed comic relief while we adjusted.

Mr Ed and Barbara with Deep South Catering arrived and set up in plan B which isn’t super easy but they took it all in stride and absolutely killed it. Seriously, I’m not a red beans and rice guy, but that was hands down the absolute best I’ve ever had. Ever.

So now we’ve got cakes, the DJ and the caterers all ready and prepared for what’s to come. All we need is our couple and their support team.

About an hour before the wedding it honestly looked like we might be able to pull off the meadow nuptials which actually got us all pretty excited. 30 minutes later those hopes were dashed when the rain began to fall. Along with the temperature. So it was officially plan B. Loren’s dad, Chris began hauling the wedding party down in his truck where we got everyone lined up and we had our maybe 7th plan B wedding. It was beautiful.

This is probably already too long but once the reception started, Powered Productions Mobile DJ Service LLC was absolutely rocking it, mixing songs and getting people dancing while the rain steadily grew harder and harder. Loren and his guys took advantage of the time under the barn to stage some photos. I’ve got one for you.

Sadly, around the 10pm timeframe, people had to start making the decision to either head out, or risk staying overnight and I know some traveled a long way to be here so staying wasn’t an option. The combination of loud music and the hike back and forth between the house and barn in the pouring rain, helping people get their stuff during the lightning and thunder won’t be forgotten by me anytime soon. I was absolutely soaked and shivering by the end of the night.

We make a lot of memories doing this every weekend. And in all honesty a lot of them begin to get jumbled together especially as we’re getting older but there were so many things about this wedding that I will NEVER forget and I have a feeling I’m not the only one. The image of Emery and CeeJay running up to the house decked out in trash bags with face holes cut in them is legitimately burned into the core memory bank.

Congratulations to Stephanie and Loren who had a rainy wedding, a pregnancy reveal and a great group of people who surrounded them at an outdoor venue where they all knew it could likely rain. It was seriously one to remember. Oh they also did a gender reveal the day after the wedding and guess what…it’s a boy. ❤️

So you know how I usually make my Saturday night wedding post? I was unable last night. I was done. What a wedding. I’m debating how detailed of a story to write on this one. I laughed more last night than I have in a long time. I’ll think on it while I get the tractor and pull Powered Productions Mobile DJ Service LLC out of the mud this morning. Epic. Stephanie and Loren. One for the record books.

It’s 1:15 in the am and we’re climbing into bed. We just finished our Simply Southern Catering and Event Planning dinner (which was amazing) and laid our aching bodies down to recover. Woooo what a wedding. Next Level DJ Services spinning up the tunes on a nice, cool night…perfection.

Rebecca and Sammy had the most perfect day imaginable for a spring wedding. Again, if you could order your weather for your wedding, today’s is the box you would tick under the “weather desired” section. Beautiful bridal party. Beautiful couple. Friendly, funny and just an all around good time to be around. We really enjoyed them and their families and can’t wait until they end up back again at one of THEIR friend’s weddings. Hopefully someday. 😜

As always we wish them the best and hope to keep up with them as they begin their journey together on this crazy ride we call marriage.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Monk. ❤️

Y’all remember a few months ago when we were almost to 5,000 page likes? There were quite a few people who shared our page out and and we passed 5,000 in absolutely no time. And then we zoomed right past 5,500.

Now we’re 10 from 6,000. Just know that we appreciate each and every one of you that has helped us on this journey. Seriously.

Well it happened again. It’s the craziest thing that happens so often for so many of our couples. It was a cloudy, breezy day and right AT wedding time, the sun decided to light up the entire wedding area and turn it into the most gorgeous ceremony.

These two right here are the sweetest, kindest two you could meet. Everyone that meets them loves them. You know how I know? Because we had an absolute FULL HOUSE of guests for their wedding on Easter weekend. That’s how. I kept asking them if they were nervous and they both would say the same thing. “Nope…just ready.”

And just like always, they had the best families and friends any couple could ask for. They all put so much effort into making sure this day was as perfect as it could be and when I tell you they pulled it off…I mean it.

To boot we had Kari McGee Photography and her crew in the house along with Simply Southern Catering and Event Planning and Chris Jett spinning the tunes. What an absolutely perfect day. Well until the June bugs showed up. But we won’t talk about that. 😜

Congratulations Cassie and Kaden. Y’all enjoy your time in Cabo. We’re pretty envious over here.

Okay so I’ve hemmed and hawed about posting up a completed photo and there always seems like there’s just a *little* bit more to do before I can get the photo I want.

And today it was about as windy a day you could have with blue skies and fluffy clouds so that made it really difficult to get it completed. But we did it.

We still haven’t unraveled the lights behind the curtains and CeeJay wants to ADD more curtains so maybe I’ll put up an updated photo in the future. But for now, here you go.
