Our next confirmed lifter for the 5th Annual Lifting the Stigma benefiting the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention - North Texas Chapter is Branden Fears.
Branden signed up simply because he wanted to make a difference. In his own words, here is what Brandon said:
“I wouldn’t say there’s been any one thing that made me want to raise awareness, but I am a huge advocate for mental health, so when I was told about this meet at y’all’s deadlift competition, I thought it would be an easy way to help.”
We can all make a difference, we can all help out. Every lifter, every volunteer, we are all here to lift the stigma on su***de and mental health issues.

So many things to say about the next confirmed lifter. Some call him Jesse, some call him Jr, others JunJun - here at RIPL we call him family.
Jesse Cleaver used to be what most people would consider a deadlift specialist, but since teaming up with Coach Stacy Burr, Jr is squatting with the big boys and making his presence known in every meet he enters.
Off the platform Jesse is a quiet, laid back guy that has a heart as pure as they come. On the platform he has a roar that can be heard by all, and his presence demands to be seen by all.
Jesse has in 1 way or the other supported this meet and Raw Iron Powerlifting League since day 1, and this year, we will all support Jesse as he helps us lift the stigma on su***de and mental health issues and raise money and awareness for the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention - North Texas Chapter.

Lifting in honor of Tim “The Corndog Man” McKinney and Kinsler Roach, Lynn Romain is our next confirmed lifter for the 5th Annual Lifting the Stigma powerlifting meet benefiting the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention- North Texas Chapter.
Since she first heard of the event, Lynn has either lifted or worked the meet - sometimes both. She is passionate about mental health, and passionate about ending the stigma around su***de.
With Lynn’s registration, we have topped $10,000 for total donations this year and are well on our way to achieving our financial goal. More than that, we have 1 more lifter honoring the lives of loved ones lost to su***de, and 1 more person willing to talk about mental health issues and help us shed some light on a very dark and sensitive topic.
If you are in crisis, please call or text 988

Our friends at Mt Pleasant Eye Care Center are back to help us Lift the Stigma on su***de. Our top novice lifters will walk out of the meet looking a little better than they walked in thanks to Dr Nichols and his staff.
New lifter or world record holder, we have something for all lifters, and all lifters can help us to put an end to the stigma surrounding su***de.

Jenny is back for the 3rd year to help us lift the stigma on su***de. After her first year competing with RIPL Jenny quickly became part of the family - supporting us and the cause all the way from Florida when she went back to school.
Much has changed for Jenny after she competed at last years Lifting the Stigma - she has graduated from college and started her new career. What has not changed is that she is still a force to be reckoned with on the platform, and she is committed to raising awareness for mental health issues and su***de prevention.
Why she never met Nycole, Jenny has been impacted by the life and legacy of Nycole Thornton, and will be lifting in her honor this year.
Let’s welcome back to the platform as she helps us on su***de and raise money for the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention - North Texas Chapter.

Jimmy Jay Fox at Texas Farm Bureau said the old men (like him) deserve some recognition too. He has donated $100 for the top men’s master lifter. So the lifter with the highest DOTS walks away with $100 cash. We don’t care if it is equipped, or unequipped- wrapped or sleeves, just top DOTS for men entered in the masters 1 or above category.
We appreciate all of our sponsors more than we can ever say. Thank you Jimmy Jay for helping us Lift the Stigma on Su***de and mental health issues.
Remember, 100% of all entry fees and proceeds from this meet go to the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention - North Texas Chapter.
Together we can lift the stigma on su***de.

Did you miss the announcement the other day? If so, don’t miss it this time. We want you to lift! We want you to help us lift the stigma on su***de.
Is lifting the stigma on su***de is important to you! Have and you wanted to lift in the 5th Annual Lofting the Stigma but just do not have the ability to pay your entry? Then this announcement is for you.

A very generous anonymous sponsor is covering the entry fee for 1 female and 1 male to enter the meet.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, or know someone who is, please follow the steps below.

1. Write a short essay about why this meet is important for you to lift in, and email it to [email protected]
In the essay, include any details about who you would be lifting in memory of, how you will help lift the stigma on su***de, and what lifting the stigma actually means to you. You will also need to include your name, and phone number so we can contact you with any questions.
This meet is all about honoring those we have lost, while helping open a line of communication for anyone currently fighting mental health issues or suicidal ideation. It is a meet for all lifters - from first time lifters to seasoned veterans. It is a meet that is intended to impact all participants long after the meet - as it is intended to make us think about how we can help others.
All emails must be received before noon CST May 30th, and the winners (1 male and 1 female) will be contacted on the 31st.
The lifter will be responsible for obtaining a valid RIPL membership prior to weigh in, and must have all necessary equipment (singlet). But don’t let not
having those yet keep you from applying - we can figure that out prior to meet day. Lifter will be responsible for travel to and from the meet.
Please like and share, and please tag any lifter you know that might be interested in lifting but just needs a little help.
Together we can lift the stigma on su***de.
