"For the past 8 years, I’ve had the privilege of living and working in Charleroi, and I’ve seen how much our community has grown. Lately, there’s been a lot of negative talk about the influx of Haitian immigrants, and I feel it’s important to set the record straight.
The Haitian community has been a positive force here, contributing to both the local economy and the vibrancy of Charleroi. Their hard work, culture, and dedication have only strengthened our town. It’s disappointing that some are choosing to focus on this migration in a negative light—this portrayal is not only inaccurate but also disrespectful.
Let’s not forget that companies like Anchor, Hocking, Corning World Kitchen, and Insta Pot brands, which helped build Charleroi’s glass industry for years, have nothing to do with the immigrant population. The real focus should be on how corporate America abandoned this town decades ago, leaving the community to rebuild itself.
Despite these challenges, Charleroi is thriving, thanks to both its long-standing residents and the newcomers who have embraced it. Let’s continue to support each other, celebrate diversity, and work together to make our town stronger!"
