This tiger swallowtail was in our garden for a long time getting his fill of nectar from all of our plants.
One of our favorite things to see every year as we expand the garden is what life it brings to our backyard. Our monarch is back, swallowtails, moths, lightning bugs, so many birds, especially cardinals & our hawk friend, mama deer & here babies, bats, uncountable bees & bugs.. the list goes on! The more wildlife we have in our yard the more affirmed we are that we’re providing something for our local biome. We’re already planning for next year’s flowers and how we’re going to add even more native plants to help our local living things. We can’t wait to see what next year’s garden brings, but for now we’re enjoying this one!

Flowers are slowly showing up in our garden! The roses are taking off, coreopsis are abundant, Windsor sweet peas & linaria are small but starting to bloom.
It’s felt like our seedlings have been growing slower than usual, but we feel a little better after seeing all of the Pennsylvania gardening pages filled with similar concerns. It’s been unusually hot & dry for this time of year so it’s affected a lot of our plants, but it’s supposed to be cooler & rain this week so we’re hoping they’ll start to really take off soon!
Featuring the flower vase that Danny made me for Christmas a few years ago out of leftover conduit & wood from other projects.
