If there’s one thing that makes me twitch, it’s incorrect grammar on wedding invitations. And one of the biggest offenders? “Kindly RSVP.”
Did you know that RSVP comes from the French phrase répondez s’il vous plaît, which literally means “please respond”? So when you write “kindly RSVP,” you’re actually saying “kindly please respond.” (Cue the eye twitch.)
The correct way to word your response card? Stick with a simple “RSVP” or “kindly respond.”
