The Irish Centre is a place where Irish people in Pittsburgh can engage in cultural, educational, social, and recreational activities. Most members are from Irish ancestry and are interested in the promotion of Irish language, dance, music, and customs. At the Irish Centre, the

re are regular open seisiúin held for any musicians who play Irish Traditional Music on select Fridays. There also are weekly Irish language lessons for beginners on Saturdays at 2:30pm. Please contact [email protected] with questions about upcoming events. The Irish Centre is the home of The Burke-Conroy School of Irish Dance and also regularly sponsors feiseanna events. After a successful pilot plan, this first-of-its-kind in Ireland bike lending library scheme is now available to all students at University College Dublin. 🚨🚴

The partnership between the UCD Energy Institute and the UCD Library, the bike library allows UCD staff and students to get a loan of e-bikes and folding bikes free of charge from self-service bike bunkers.

The original pilot programme was one of three research demonstration projects funded by the Higher Education Authority investigating new approaches to sustainability.

While the overwhelming majority of people get candy on Halloween, we found out that some trick-or-treaters get potatoes.

Why is that?

It is not because that house ran out of candy and they panicked, but rather it may have cultural significance behind it. And the backstory may just make you enjoy that potato more than you have in recent years.

On March 25 2023, the Martin McHugh Scholarship Award will presented.
This scholarship was established in 2006 by Jim Graven as Chairman of the West Virginia Feis. It is awarded each year to an Irish step dancer from the Pittsburgh Area. It was created in honor of Martin McHugh, a dedicated father of a step dancer and tireless feis volunteer. Marty passed away in January 2006 at the age of 47.

BRIGID, Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Carlow University

The team at the Pittsburgh Irish Festival, is pleased to announce a brand-new event coming in 2023, BRIGID, a musical celebration of Brigid, Celtic Goddess and Patron Saint of Ireland. BRIGID will occur on Saturday, February 4 at the Rosemary Heyl Theatre in Antonian Hall at Carlow University.
Featured performers include:

The Grammy®-Awarded and Emmy-Nominated, Eileen Ivers, who will performing with her Universal Roots Band, and a powerhouse all-female band created especially for this event, The Brigideens.
The Brigideens featuring Eileen Ivers, Caitlin Maloney, Hilary Hawke, Shannon Heaton, Anna Colliton, Colin Forhan.
The Bow Tides, a Pittsburgh Irish Festival favorite band led by three female fiddle players, including Pittsburgher, Katie Grennan.
Female-fronted, RUNA, who preserves traditional Celtic-American Roots while also pushing the boundaries of Irish folk music in the modern age.
TikTok and Instagram famous, Ally Crowley-Duncan (aka Ally the Piper), a multi-instrumentalist and singer with a specialty in bagpipes. Ally is the most followed bagpiper on social media.

Tickets for BRIGID are on sale at brigidpgh.com. Tickets are going fast and the event is expected to sell-out, so we recommend getting your tickets early. In the spirit of St. Brigid, a portion of the event proceeds will support the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh.
