Hello All,

I'm putting together a members' dinner for Thursday, August 7, 2025. It's been way too long since the club has had something like this, I know it hasn't happened yet during my tenure. Let's remedy that by getting together the night of August 7th for dinner and drinks. The cocktail hour will be at 5pm with dinner at 6pm. Your can utilize your monthly food and drink spend for this event. To register / RSVP, please click https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1424972303519?aff=oddtdtcreator . The cost is $55 per person and I will need to know if you're "in" by July 31st. If this goes well, and all it takes is participation to make that happen, then it would be nice to this sort of thing quarterly, no? The menu is below. Any questions, let me know, any dietary concerns, let me know. - Dave

Argentinian Char-Grilled Carved Steak with chimichurri sauce

Hello All,

Let's see what's new in club land, shall we?

Thursday the 26th we have our next presentation in our Pittsburgh History Series. Vagel Keller will be covering the history of the club and the building along with our immediate neighborhood. It should be really interesting and we have quite a few folks signed up (in excess of 60) to attend that night. Don't miss out on what's becoming a popular series! Let us know you're coming by clicking HERE: https://lnkd.in/edJ_svdj

Also next week if our next dinner theater production. You know her, you love her, you loathe her?! It's "I Loathe Lucy." A drink, dinner and a show for $130 per couple. You just can't do that anywhere this day and age. If you're on the fence, get off and come on down to the show. You won't regret it, you'll laugh, and be happy you got yourself out of the house! Tickets can be purchased HERE: https://lnkd.in/eeizB_eZ

Second Friday is coming! What? Since First Friday in July falls on the 4th, and most of you will be playing with sparklers and firecrackers, we're moving our First Friday event to the 11th. First Fridays are open to non-members and members alike and are starting to gain traction in the popularity department. So, be one of the cool kids and join us that evening for a drink! If you want to invite someone else, send them HERE where they can find all the pertinent info: https://lnkd.in/ennYq7r8

July 16th, what are you doing? Your answer should be "Dave, I'm coming down to the members' lunch at the club." We'll be having our monthly luncheon on Wednesday, July 16th at noon. This luncheon is open to both club members and non-members. It's a great way to get back in touch with old friends and create new ones. The cost is $22 for members and $30 for non-members. For members, it can be paid on the day of the event. I need to know if you're coming by Wednesday July 9th. Sign up HERE: https://lnkd.in/e8TKtt36

The menu is as follows:
Caprese Salmon Heirloom cherry tomatoes, white wine, shallots, Balsamic Glaze drizzle, olive oil, fresh basil
Paired with Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Zest
Spinach Orzo Feta Salad
Roll & butter
Dessert

We are having a club open house to try an encourage potential members to join. This is taking place on Friday, July 24th. We held one in April and it was well-attended by non-members, hopefully some of whom will join. It would be nice if current members could come down and take part and share their experiences with the club with those newcomers. If you want to share the event to let people know about it, send them HERE: https://lnkd.in/e6W8RSET

Finally, at the end of July we'll be having another AHYP History Series presentation, this time on the fascinating Meadowcroft Rock Shelter. RSVP HERE: https://lnkd.in/ew-yDR8P

Hi All,

Making our way though June we have some more updates and reminders about things at the old club.

First off, GOLFERS, attention, attention. There should be big news about a potential additional benefit that will be made available to you soon. As soon as I get it locked down in the coming days I'll let you all know, I just want to put it on your radar.

In reciprocal news. The Club at Bella Collina, in Montverde, Florida, whose webpage can be found HERE https://www.bellacollina.com/golf-course, will host our members for golf on a seasonal and restricted basis throughout the year. If you find yourself interested, please let me know and I'll reach out to their club pro to see if I can get you tee times / access.

Inside the lounge we have artist Freddie Bainbridge's awesome, huge, portrait of George Westinghouse on display. You should come check it out! Freddie and I are putting together a date and time for a showing of his artwork here at the club at some point soon. I'll keep you apprised. Freddie brought the portrait in to display for our last Pittsburgh History Series presentation, which focused on Westinghouse.

Event open to all: Our next Pittsburgh History Presentation will be Thursday, June 26th. Vagel Keller will discuss the AHYP Club's history, the building's history, and that of our neighboring block. These events are becoming more and more popular and I hope to see you here! Let us know you're coming by RSVPing HERE. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1395289992929?aff=oddtdtcreator

Member exclusive: For now, we will be foregoing First Friday in July as that falls on the 4th of July. We will, though, be having a Summer Cocktail Class on Friday, July 11th. Learn how to make some traditional cocktails, and a few with a modern spin. Space is LIMITED for this one and only open to members and their guest. Please let me know asap if you plan on attending by either emailing me at [email protected] or calling at 412.281.5858.

The Dice Game Returns! Folks out there receiving this message will know better than me, but the AHYP Club had a famous dice game for decades. The club took great pride in this tradition as illustrated by the fact the game's winners can be seen burnished on the doors of none other than the back bar liquor cabinet in the lounge, so it was a pretty prestigious honor to be the club's dice game champion. With that in mind, I'd like to rekindle the dice game this summer. Friday, July 18th will be the date with a start time of 630pm. We'll do this assuming there's enough interest. Let me know what you think, please.

Events even farther down the road in July include a Pittsburgh History Series installment on July 31st and a club open house on Thursday, July 24th. The goal of the open house events is to encourage people to join the club. Support from current members in attending the event can only be a good, positive, thing! Please consider coming down!

Ok, I believe that's everything for now. Please come on out to some events and engage with and enjoy your club. In the meantime, stay cool.

-Dave
