Hi All,
Making our way though June we have some more updates and reminders about things at the old club.
First off, GOLFERS, attention, attention. There should be big news about a potential additional benefit that will be made available to you soon. As soon as I get it locked down in the coming days I'll let you all know, I just want to put it on your radar.
In reciprocal news. The Club at Bella Collina, in Montverde, Florida, whose webpage can be found HERE https://www.bellacollina.com/golf-course, will host our members for golf on a seasonal and restricted basis throughout the year. If you find yourself interested, please let me know and I'll reach out to their club pro to see if I can get you tee times / access.
Inside the lounge we have artist Freddie Bainbridge's awesome, huge, portrait of George Westinghouse on display. You should come check it out! Freddie and I are putting together a date and time for a showing of his artwork here at the club at some point soon. I'll keep you apprised. Freddie brought the portrait in to display for our last Pittsburgh History Series presentation, which focused on Westinghouse.
Event open to all: Our next Pittsburgh History Presentation will be Thursday, June 26th. Vagel Keller will discuss the AHYP Club's history, the building's history, and that of our neighboring block. These events are becoming more and more popular and I hope to see you here! Let us know you're coming by RSVPing HERE. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1395289992929?aff=oddtdtcreator
Event open to all: On Friday, June 27th we are having another installment of dinner theater! Join us to figure out who off-ed Lucy in "I Loathe Lucy." First we'll have a cocktail hour, then dinner, and then the show. Honestly, this day and age, where can you do all that for less than about $150 per couple? Get your tickets now as I have to cut off sales by the 20th. Tickets can be purchased right HERE https://www.eventbrite.com/e/murder-mystery-dinner-theater-night-i-loathe-lucy-tickets-1338884031179?aff=oddtdtcreator
Member exclusive: For now, we will be foregoing First Friday in July as that falls on the 4th of July. We will, though, be having a Summer Cocktail Class on Friday, July 11th. Learn how to make some traditional cocktails, and a few with a modern spin. Space is LIMITED for this one and only open to members and their guest. Please let me know asap if you plan on attending by either emailing me at [email protected] or calling at 412.281.5858.
The Dice Game Returns! Folks out there receiving this message will know better than me, but the AHYP Club had a famous dice game for decades. The club took great pride in this tradition as illustrated by the fact the game's winners can be seen burnished on the doors of none other than the back bar liquor cabinet in the lounge, so it was a pretty prestigious honor to be the club's dice game champion. With that in mind, I'd like to rekindle the dice game this summer. Friday, July 18th will be the date with a start time of 630pm. We'll do this assuming there's enough interest. Let me know what you think, please.
Events even farther down the road in July include a Pittsburgh History Series installment on July 31st and a club open house on Thursday, July 24th. The goal of the open house events is to encourage people to join the club. Support from current members in attending the event can only be a good, positive, thing! Please consider coming down!
Ok, I believe that's everything for now. Please come on out to some events and engage with and enjoy your club. In the meantime, stay cool.
-Dave
